Thursday 1st September - Pinch and a Punch

Wow September already, that means that my baby boy will be 1 this month, where the hell has a whole year gone? We very narrowly missed out on breaking even for August, we finished 8.13pts down, which is incredible when you consider that we were over 100pts down with less than a week to go, it was an admirable effort if i do say so myself.
There is a nice looking listed fillies event at Salisbury today, any number can win but I've gone with Misty Conquest. 3 starts ago she beat Caspar Netscher into second, then her 3rd place 2 starts ago has had the form franked on a couple of occasions. She was disappointing last time out in France, but that was a big prize on offer and a number of reasons could be thrown into the hat for that effort. I think she is a monster price for her ability and in my eyes should go very close. If i was forced to give a main danger I would probably side with inetrobil.
My NAP today is Amir Pasha who goes in the 450 @ Redcar, I just think he his well treated back down to this grade, he is one who is raising his stock at present, last won 3 starts ago, 2 since then have been off raised mark in a higher grade, he showed improvement last time form the time before and is now taken to raise his mark again with a win today back down in grade 6.

Golf - Europa Masters and Deutsche Bank Classic

Howdy, welcome to my Golf selections, if you've never followed my golf selections before I should make it clear, I rarely watch golf, I don't study it very hard (i just look at the statistics available) but I do appreciate it's value as a betting event. I can get suckered into watching it if I'm doing well and there is very little to nothing else on the telly.

My selections this week are below with best prices. Remember to check Laddies as I don't even look there as they pay me my wages. Especially the Deutsche back as the magic sign will refund losing stakes if your selection leads after 18 holes but fails to win after 72.

With two days to go, we had a monster on Sunday which swung us into profit but then gave a chunk back yesterday, on whgat was a pretty horrid day of racing. Sunday 28th August - Back to the drawing board.

Yesterday while messing around I rediscovered the success of an old system that I used to use about 6 years ago, it's not the most failsafe system, in fact there are plenty of flaws, but for some reason it does pick up winners. It throws up some massive prices and occasionally one of these will come in. I've found that I cannot ignore some of the selections as sometimes random ones do come in. It does however oddly, pick up the odd forecast, and yesterday it would have landed a 180 pound tricast had i used it!!!!!!!
A few hit the bar moments yesterday meant a little loss, however this loss was restricted to win only players as we landed a couple of E/w value places. The football bet was going swimmingly until Coventry's 76th minute equaliser at the Riverside. I couldn't count on fingers and toes the amount of times Coventry have put down a bet of mine! Perhaps I should get the hint.
Some nice Group races today so I will begin with a little look at each of them, then I will reel of my bets for today. They will be staked as 1pt win per horse (some big prices so do E/w if it pleases you, i calculate win only as, let's face it, it's much easier to work out after a long day) and half point reverse forecasts, combi forecasts and combi tricasts where relevant.

GOODWOOD 320 - SUPREME STAKES GROUP 3
This is quite an open race, there is plenty in this race, that whichever wins you will hear that age old betting shop disdain, "I backed that before and didn't today, typical". I think the Cheka, Donny Rover and Libranno all have very live chances but they give away a lot of weight to Sir Mark Prescotts 3yo filly HOORAY.She has been a bit hit and mss this year, she needed the run in the 1000 guineas, bounced back to land a listed event ay Epsom in June, then struggled in Group 1 company at Ascot, although the soft ground could be put up as an excuse. She was also a disappointing favourite on her first foray to Ireland at Tipperary last time. This will be easier, and with the weight allowance she gets, should be enough to get her head back in front.

CURRAGH 245 - GO AND GO ROUND TOWER STAKES GROUP 3
This in an interesting race, the favourite Lightening Pearl is stepping down in trip, next in the betting Boris Grigoriev is stepping up. The one i like looks to be the stable second string on face value but she is a C&D Group 3 winner. EXPERIENCE can be excused her last two runs as dropped to 5 proved too sharp in my opinion, the other Wachman runner Captain Obvious is making a big step up in class after impressing over 6f at Naas on debut, but I'm going for experience with the selection. As I said this is a Group 3 over 6f at the Curragh and the selection has won a Group 3 over 6f at the Curragh.

CURRAGH 315 - DANCE DESIGN STAKES GROUP 3
An interesting looking fillies only maiden, and on bare form it is between 4. We'll start with John Oxx's Haziyna, this one will be on the premises but she just struggles to get her head in front. Wild Wind looked very impressive last time out when landing a listed contest at Killarney, but steps up in trip where she has been unsuccessful before. The form of Primevere's listed win at Salisbury was given a timely boost last night when Opera Gal (2nd that day) landed a listed race at Windsor last night. But I'm going to side with Jessica Harrington's rapidly improving BIBLE BELT. In 5 racecourse starts she has secured 3 wins, 1 place and a 4th of 14 (on debut). She destroyed a listed class field at Gowran Park by 5lengths last time out and gives every impression that she is on her way to the top.

CURRAGH 350 - FLYING FIVE STAKES GROUP 3
Amour Propre has been unlucky this year, he keeps coming up against Masamah. Today I think he will find one to good in SOLE POWER too if I am honest. The selection became a household name last season when landing the Group 1 Nunthorpe stakes at odds of 100/1. This year he has added the Group 2 Temple stakes to his role of honour and carries a little penalty for that win. I think this will be interesting as both the favourites should come from off the pace. But the quick ground should suit them both. Again I'm taking proven ability over potential.

CURRAGH 425 - MOYGLARE STAKES GROUP 1
This horse had her knockers, but I think most of them were put to bed when she pulled apart the Debutante stakes over C&D last time out on her first visit to this racecourse. La Collina was given a target and a lot of weight when Power was put out front far too early in the Phoenix stakes and I think MAYBE will just have more stamina with no weight difference. At a decent price I like Jessica Harrington's lightly race Princess Sinead to show up well, Stan James offer up a standout 14/1 which looks well worth chancing an Each way bet on. Her first two starts gave the impression that she wanted further than 6 which came to fruition when landing her maiden win over 7 comfortably last time out. She is sired by one of my favourite horses Jeremy, she reopposes the only 2 horses who have beaten her on a racecourse Maybe and Teolane, the former being the selection and the latter having regressed dramatically. Could even be worth sneakily finding a price for this one for the 100 guineas just in case she gets very close to Maybe.

Now the selections in short.

Friday 26th August - A new target.

Sitting at minus 94pts this month has me thinking, perhaps I should have a target of staying under -100 pts. If the point is £1 then that means I will have spent £100 on my hobby for the month, and that is an acceptable way of looking at how bad my luck is at the moment!
I was going to have a proper look at the Champions league draw, but I'll save that for now. Although Group A looks a bit Cheryl Cole, with Group G coming up as Heather from Eastenders. Just Saying. Good old Man U got a gimme, but then so did Chelsea realistically. Arsenal have a couple of tricky away ties, but if they continue the improvement to their football that they showed on Weds night they will be fine. Man City have a monster but will go through in my opinion.
Onto todays horses and with 5.24 points to the 100pt zone i am placing 14pts today, a bit risky, but i fancy a few quite nicely, and I have put the effort in. I'm not too worried about my money, as I said it's my hobby, but I don't like giving bad advice, it's not very nice. And my bad runs always seem to coincide with a sharp rise in twitter followers and/or blog readers. This is the first unprofitable month since i started new people so keep the faith.
No E/w treble today as no 3rd best bet. Just 5pt Nap and 3pt NB.

FFOS LAS
340 COLONEL MAK WINNER 3/1
Placed at Hamilton off the same mark in a better race, treated to go well today.

450 NUDGE AND NURDLE
Recieves ample weight from Sun Tzu on their Perth meeting in June.

525 STRUMBLE HEAD
Been very consistent this term, although will not want any rain (in Wales!!!) as pulled up twice when cut.

NEWMARKET
330 TROVARE
Placed off higher marks, saves all his best efforts for HQ, will be on the premises. I have CDM OP Sta? in my notes, I think that means Cosimo De Medici (winner 11/1) is overpriced if he proves stamina!

435 MY FREEDOM 2ND
Disappointing in higher class last time out, twice before that he was collared on the line over a mile, drop back to 7 should hopefully suit, although jockey booking puts me off a little, Godolphin at HQ with Ted Durcan on board is very rare, they usually send him to all corners.

BRIGHTON
745 BATELEUR (NAP) NR
It's a bit brave picking one at Brighton who hasn't won C&D, esp when 4 of such in race, but he his 4lb lower than his winning mark from this year, he put in a much better run lto over C&D having been running at 6 for most of the summer. Back to 5 should suit and well treated with rivals. The biggest danger will be Stonecrabs tomorrow (winner 7/2) who had zero luck in running last time, I think with all his bumps and checks he probably ran an extra furlong to the rest, but kept on well in the finish.

HAMILTON
735 HONG KONG ISLAND 2ND
Will relish the GS ground, he has placed 3/4 runs with cut in the ground. The only time he didn't was his very first run, this is one on the upgrade and has had a few runs off this mark now including one placed in similar conditions to today.

KILLARNEY
535 BEAUTY EXPRESS (NB)
3rd run off this mark, placed in stronger event last time, game winner at Wexford 3 starts ago when beating the useful Cane Cat by nearly 2 lengths.

That's it, have a good day and good luck whatever you're backing.

Thursday 25th August - 1 Goal!

That's all we missed out on the footie bet by, the Exeter v Liverpool was fine it finished 1-3, but Peterborough, who scored 7 on Saturday evening, could not find the net against Middlesborough. 0-2
Gutted!
I'm not going to wax on today, the racing during the week bores me a little sometimes. I still enjoy watching it but reading and writing about it, when it is of low quality, can begin to get mundane. I look up and realise that the weekend is 2 days away so I stop moaning and get on with it!

Wednesday 24th August - 1 horse and a nailed on footie bet.

I've just picked out the one today for a straightforward 5pt win bet.

CHEPSTOW
400 CRUISE TO THE LIMIT
was unlucky in defeat 2 starts ago of this weight over a longer trip, now back down to 5 furlongs and with the booking of a 3lb claimer he is essentially over his last winning trip off a winning mark, he will attempt to make all, should face competition for front running, but he is treated to be on the premises.

My nailed on footie bet is a little double.
It's on the 2.5 goals market with 2 games that there should be more than 2.5 goals.
The first is Exeter v Liverpool
This is the shakier of the two, no doubt KD will try out some new things on tonights trip to the west country, I think Liverpool, whatever side they put out, will have enough to beat Exeter, however Exeter will be wanting to put on a show in front of what will most likely be their record crowd of the season and the sky tv cameras. So Exeter to score and Liverpool to win equals over 2.5 goals.
The second is Peterborough v Middlesborough
This is a no brainer really, just look at each sides last six games, only once in twelve has there not been more than 2.5 goals, that was M'boros farcical match against Leeds where about twelvty three players got sent off. Both sides like pretty good going forward, but a little suspect at times in behind.
The double pays just over 8/5 with Betfred.
My advice, have 50 notes down, call back tomorrow to pick up your 50 plus 80 on top, and take the wife out for dinner, on me.

Have a great day, good luck and happy punting.

Tuesday 23rd August - Just a couple across the pond today.

I've just put up a couple from Killarney today, you always get this little lull after a big festival, where the racing is very poor. But it does save me all those hours studying and typing.
A little bit of profit yesterday as well, which was nice.

KILLARNEY
610 MONEY SPIDER (NAP)
640 STUNNING VIEW

Enjoy.

We are still 70pts down this month.

Monday 22nd August - 4 tips for today and the Antepost NFL

I'm not going to write too much today as it's Monday and we all have more pressing concerns, Racheal Green rode us a game winner yesterday in Gan On, although I think the great jump at the last won the race as I wouldn't have fancied her slugging it out with AP.

For all intents and purposes I am holding onto the NAP-NB system until the end of the month but I am personally just putting down straight 1 stake bets. The blog system will go to just 1pt bets as of the 1st of September until the end of the year when there are exciting changes planned.

NFL
The NFL is a real betting passion of mine, the stats available, as with most US sports, are phenomenal, and for a mathematical punter like me this is terrific. I'm not going to guarantee a 100% strikerate, that would be impossible, but I don't think I've ever had a losing season. I don't have computer evidence, but the bookies who have paid me out can vouch that I have had 5 of the 6 finallists in the last 3 years superbowls Antepost.
How I play is as follows. I pick 1 team from each Division. I put on a Goliath for the Division winners. For those who don't understand a Goliath covers all multiples from Doubles up to the Accumulator and works out at 247 bets. I then perm the Division winners into 16 (4x4) Doubles to play for Conference winner. I then back the teams singularly to win the Superbowl.

Sunday 21st August - A brief reprise

Well we picked up a few winners yesterday, which was truly a breath of fresh air. The football treble was let down by Sunderland in the North-East derby, but we are getting closer. It wil just be a quickie today. I only fancy 3 horses, the rest can do as they wish. I'm going to phase out the NAP/NB scoring system into next month, I shall continue it for P/L purposes until then though, but today we just have a NAP.

Saturday 20th August - The final day of York, the £5 footie treble and a little film review.

Got to be quick so I'll start with the tiny little film review. We Sky+ a film called Twigliht off the telly the other night and sat down to watch it last night. Initially I was disgusted that there wasn't a crunchy malty snack in sight. I can't really suss why al the fuss, it was essentially a very poor version of "Interview with a Vampire" for the EMO generation. I must be old because I just wasn't moved, the closest we came to real action was when the nutty chick jumped on the back guys shoulders and snapped his neck but even then we didn't get to watch him burn. I would love it if a Twigliht fan could convince me that the next film will be better. And why oh why would there ever be a #team jacob? He came across as a snivelly little rat, if i'm to be honest.

Right shall we do the footie treble first?
SUNDERLAND L
CHARLTON W
SOUTHAMPTON W
Best price Coral pays 36.25 to a fiver.
Sunderland gelled in the second half at Anfield and have a much easier task today, the pace will be frenetic being a local derby and will be more of a test for the Newcastle defence than the mamby pamby flouncing about they were up against last week
Charlton are taking League 1 by storm this year, and should really be about 4/7 or less against Scunthorpe who really haven't got going yet.
Southampton are also overpriced at home to Millwall, they will score goals for fun this season, and those goals seem to come from all over the park.

Friday 19th August - York Day 3,

To be honest I'm willing the end of this York festival, it has destroyed my profit/loss figures, taken up hours of my time studying, and I keep getting collared on the line!
I'll quickly wax lyrical as to how good my true love was last night. Tottenham travelled to Hearts. On ordinary circumstances anything less than victory would have been seen as not good enough. However, when you take into account that Hearts are nearly a month into their season, this was Tottenhams first competitive game, it was potentially a banana skin. Spurs looked fluent from the off and the onloy signs of being less than sharp were a few errant touches in the final third, however these were ironed out and Tottenham burst into a 3-0 lead within 30 minutes and went on to cruise to a 5-0 victory. Massively impressive, obviously a huge step up in class follows on Monday night with a trip to Old Trafford, it's essentially winning a claimer by 50 lengths then going straight into group 1 company.
Onto my selections. All just 1pt selections today, so we will see how we go.

YORK
200 THE FONZ
The Fonz has been running okay without really getting too involved. He won this last year under Kieron Fallon off an almost identical mark. I just think he is well treated, he still needs to find a big run in a competitive event but he ticks all the boxes.

230 LILBOURNE LAD
Very game when winning a Group 2 two starts ago, didn't appear to handle the yield in the ground last time out in the Phoenix stakes, back in Group 2 today and is well clear than any of these when thrust through my system. My faith is that if the Fonz doesn't do the business then LL will most definately be my first York festival winner!

305 NATIONALISM
Not seen since a listed win at Windsor back end of June, He ran in Group 3 class at Epsom on the Derby weekend, the run that day he was very keen early and had to be steadied, but when he got to task he ran on well and almost stole 3rd place from Rio De La Plata, that was the first start of the season for him. His reallocation from that race combined with the win next time out suggests to me that he is at least Group 3 class and has a big chance here getting weight from my second best Kings Gambit. Biondetti is an interesting one having done all of his running abroad it is tough to systemise him and market support should guide.

340 MASAMAH
I've backed him last twice when winning and got some of those winnings antepost for him today. He owes me nothing at all. Spencer will stick him out front and try to stay there just as he did last time. Plenty make appeal here. Hoof it won the Stewards cup so impressively off top weight that the transition into group racing was inevitable and connections have put faith in by supplementing him. Royal Ascot winner Prohibit has a big chance and will appreciate a fast pace to come late with his run, although a little birdy tells me that York may not suit ideally but he's ready. Invincible Ash shows up well on available data. There are 3 horses getting weight. Margot Did for Hayley will most likely find a few too good today. French raider Wizz kid makes appeal but will need buckets and buckets of rain, I think the ground will be far too quick for her come race time. And then the 2yo Requinto. Kingsgaite Native won this as a 2yo. Requinto was an impressive winner of the Molecombe. If Burwaaz shows up earlier in the day then you will surely see the money come in for this one getting nearly 2 stone from the 4yo+ boys. The blips on his form come over 6 and he is 100% over 5. The winner will come from within this paragraph and I hope it's Masamah.

415 LLANARMON LAD
I backed this one at Goodwood and he was touched off on the line at 50/1. He won't be anywhere near that price today but he will have learnt from that experience. I'm following him in again as he owes me nothing and we will see how he goes. Newcomers that make watching appeal are the Dylan Thomas colt Athens(I make no secret of my admiration for Dylan Thomas), Street Cry colt Crying Wolf, and Dansili colt Thomas Chippendale.

450 PERFECT SILENCE
The horses last win came under todays jockey at the back end of last year although with the 8lb hike and Lucy having ridden off 2lb of her claim the mare has 10lb to find. She has been running well and consistently and deserves her day in the sun, underneath a young lady who more than deserves a day in the sun. She has been riding exceptionally well of late with a strike rate any jockey would be proud of. She makes good in running decisions which will be pivotal in a big field like this.

Thursday 18th August - York Day 2, back to the drawing board

If i have any readers left after what can only be described as an absolute 'mare of a month, these are my fancies for today. Will have to be quick as it took me a very long time to disect the 305!

YORK
200 MISS WORK OF ART
The selection here is massively overpriced on potential, potential that has not been fulfilled to date, but connections won this race last year with a horse by the name of Wooton Bassett. Crown Dependancy is the biggest threat and most likely winner having done absolutely nothing wrong when beaten favourite at Goodwood last time. He was hampered more times than an old peoples home on a harvest festival.

230 ANGELS WILL FALL
She showed terrific temperament to steady and drive home at Ascot in Group 3 company, this is a little step up but connections will see it more as progression, as do I. The key formline is that to Cherry Hinton runner up Russelliana who was about 10 or more lengths behind Angels at Ascot. Obviously lots of dangers in this race, I make Fire Lily the most interesting.

305 SMARTY SOCKS
This race took me an absolute age to disect. I've gone with Smarty socks as he showed up much better lto than previous 2 runs and on that evidence should now be prime to win off this mark. I fancy Harrison George to run a big one today along with top weight Invisible man.

340 CRYSTAL CAPELLA
I'll tell you the truth, the only thing that split this from Blue Bunting is that SMS has a better record at york than Mahmood, other than that very tough to split. Although i think the cut will suit Crystal and any rain will just strengthen that.

415 FIELD OF MIRACLES
Very disappointing when pulled up in the Lillie Langtry last time, but formline before that reads progressive, including second in the Ribblesdale by a shd to Banimpire 2 starts ago. On that form the daughter of Galileo should take this. I don't like Wild Coco, and Polly's Mark's running style really puts me off her.

450 EXEMPLARY
I looked at this race, my head still hurt from the 200 and the 305, so I spotted Koukash colours saw that Silvestre was riding so I backed it each way. Sorry.

Tuesday, 16 August 2011

Wednesday 17th August - York Ebor festival Day 1.

We made a profit yesterday!!! Woop Woop.
I'm going to just tell you why I've chosen my York picks and then put my other selections below them. A NAP winner yesterday served up a little profit to replenish the festival ammunition so hopefully we can get the blog into profit by the weekend.

YORK
200 RACY
Racy has been given a little leeway from the handicapper, without really doing a lot wrong. He has struggled with his draw on a number of occasions recently but today looks to be well drawn and could be right up there. Last time at Goodwood he led home his group but the pace was over the other side of the track. Well worth an Each way tickle at least.

230 FURNERS GREEN
I struggled with this race, I spent about half an hour looking for a reason that any other could beat this one, for value purposes. I couldn't find it. Entifaadha looks to be the main danger, and I liked Moon Pearl as a possible each way.

305 NAMIBIAN
I can't take Seville at the price, he is the most likely on ability but he just doesn't seem to do enough to win. Namibian on the other hand has won two in a row and continued progression should see him make it 3. I can't realistically look at anything else to challenge these 2.

340 MIDDAY
Await the Dawn has good form in the book but a) we still aren't sure exactly what he has beaten, b)Midday has form figures he could only dream of c)I can never back Joseph O'Brien with any real confidence d)the fact that Tom Quealley has chosen Midday over Twice Over. Therefore for value, experience, jockey booking, I have to side with the wondermare.

415 NEARLY A GIFT
This one has never finished outside the top 2 at this trip. A narrow second after a long trip down to Newmarket last time out, this one is much closer to home. Both trainer and jockey turn a LSP at this track and I fancy him to get up. I wanted to back Mister Musicmaster to land the cricket stumps but think the hanicapper may just have a grip on him and he will find it tough to make all under that weight rise.

450 CLUB OCEANIC
This one looks to be a serious horse, one little pointer is the fact that Frankie (who has won on him twice) swerves a Godolphin ride for him. He found a big money handicap at Newmarket a step too far 2 runs ago, but quickly asserted himself last time out and will have learned from that. With Frankie back on board he will certainly be there or thereabouts.

Tuesday 16th August - Todays #tips

Yesterday we broke even, due to my only selection being a non runner! I've just got the 3 today, so we'll follow the 5-3-2-1e/w system.

BRIGHTON
500 STONECRABSTOMORROW (TREB)
At a track where course form is paramount, the selection here has a 40% strike rate, After a disappointing effort here 2 starts ago and a better, but not enough, effort lto he is now back to within a lb of his last winning mark, which incidently was over C&D.

SLIGO
455 BLUE MIMOSA (NAP) WINNER 11/4
She has been improving with every run, and the yielding groung should provide no problems given all her runs have been on y/sft ground, including a C&D win last time out. In my opinion, continued progression the way she is going at the moment will see her make light work of this field.

525 FLASH MCGAHON (NB)
He is a horse that has been very frustrating, and difficult if not near impossible to win with. But he is with a smart stable and Johnny Murtagh is a big booking. This is a considerable drop in class, presumedly to show him how to put his head in front, the reason for the strong bet here is that in my opinion he does not even have to find his best form to score here.

Have a good day, good luck and happy punting.

Profits are identical to yesterday.

Monday 15th August - Just a quickie

Just a quickie today. We seriuosly hit the bar yesterday, in fact we peppered it with a barrage of near misses. My E/w treble was 4th, 1st, 2nd, my each way double was 2nd and 4th. Tough day, David Toms finished in a 3 way tie for fourth, so your each way bet will be settle as (2/3 your unit stake x 1/4 of the odds).

Only one horse has popped up today,

THIRSK
415 HAAJES (NAP)
He has been more like his old self in the last two runs, now back down towards his winning mark. A decent second last time out at Beverley and similar work today off the same mark will see him very much involved.

Hopefully he wins, he's the only one i'm doing today, 5pts on the nose.

Good luck

Sunday 14th August - It's just around the corner!

The big win, that is! This losing streak cannot go on forever. If you took early prices on the winners and backed a couple each way yesterday then you would have made a profit. Unfortunately I work the blog out to SP (i can't change the rules willy nilly) so have to take the 3pts on the chin.
It all started wonderfully yesterday when Directorship cruised from last to first to take the 2pm at odds of 9/1, but from there it soon went downhill. There were a few hard luck stories, Prince of Dance missed the break and had no chance to settle as the pace was so furious, Louis the Pious had to manouvre from too far back to stay on into third, the rest were just poor really.
In the golf we still have two guys in realistic contention, Stricker is still pitching in there 3 shots off the lead despite yesterday having more ups and downs than Marjury Daw. David Toms shot a terrific 65 yesterday but will need at least that again just to have a chance from 5 shots back, major place claims though.
I'm excited about a couple today, the first is Sixteen Forty Two. He last ran at the Galway festival, officially it says, "7th 3 out, quickly weakened on inner before straight", I'd implore you to watch the race. It is available on the ATR website for free, just give them your E-mail address. Sixteen Forty Two was cruising up the rail, so much so that if I was an in running punter I'd have slammed a serious wedge on him to win, He had work to do in behind One for Joules who took a long time to settle, then he was fine 3out, and came round the bend fine, something hit the fence in front of him 2 out and seriously hampered him, the horse in front did everything but climb on board with the jockey! The handicapper has relieved him of a couple of pounds, the last race was a shame because he looked seriously on the up and i hope he can rekindle that progression today.
The next is Tullius. He may still be 10lb higher than last winning mark, but both wins since then have been up in trip, he performed admirably at 9 when second but 10 was too far, he will appreciate the drop back to a mile today with a record of 2 from 2 at this distance.
Onto the selections.

Saturday 13th August - Saturday racing and return of the Premier League, Pig in shit!

To immortalise Prince William's world cup bid delivery, "I love football". I like the Championship, League 1/2 etc... but I love football, and the Premier League typifies everything that is the modern makeup of the "beautiful game". Overpaid fancy dans, more worried about their hair than putting in a sizeable challenge. But the best thing about the premier league are the betting opportunities. Such is the quality in each team from top to bottom that any scenario is likely at any moment from first to final whistle. I just love it. Unfortuneatly my team isn't playing today due to some nonsense that went on last Saturday. The downside is that now our first game of the season is away to Man Utd!
In the horses Brown Panther goes today, I've taken him on, against my better judgement, something just smells of "racecourse gallop" to me, it's very common in NH that trainers will send out a runner for a strong run under rules before a big race but not necessarily to win. Don't take this wrong, I don't think they are misling the public, i just think that win or no win they re just looking for positives from the run. I hope I'm wrong as I have Panther for the Leger at 8's and I'd like a bit of value for that come the day.
Another interesting race is the 230 at Newbury, I like the look of Fencing, everything suggests he was beaten by the draw on debut, comfortably leading home his group with the 2 in front both on the quicker side. A smaller field will suit and form of that race was given a monster boost last night when Endowing (15th that time) finished second in what is tipped to be a very hot maiden.
Onto my selections.

Friday 12th August - Stricker, Stricker, Stricker!

Well the golf was good yesterday hey? If you followed me in with my Manchester City sized squad of betting assault on the USPGA then you, like me, would have 3 players sat pretty in the Top 10. Steve Stricker played a blinder to defy his odds and plummett into 5/2, I'm hoping another blinder will see him drop to odds on and I can make my way over to BF and have a little lay!
Horses yesterday, and another near miss for the each way treble, 2 x fourth and a non runner. Without all these near misses we'd be in pretty sensible profit for the month, therefore I'm not getting too upset by the little loss, besides we generally always get it back at the weekend.
I've decided I'm going to write some reasoning about my NAP each day, I figured it a little hard to expect people to just trust my selections on face value, especially when there are a few losing days dotted around. So we'll have a go, starting now.

TODAYS NAP
BILLYS DREAM 615 TRAMORE
Billy has only won once, that was 2 years ago. However, he has been tumbling downwards to a competitive mark, and his best run in recent time came over C&D on similar ground back in June, when 3rd of 12. That was his only visit to Tramore to date and I'm guessing connections may wish to reawaken whatever went right that day. That race hasn't pulled up many trees but he reopposes the first and second today on considerably better terms. One thing is for sure, given his bare form figures, he will go off overpriced and I'm predicting that the revisit to Tramore on better terms with the 2 horses that he saw from behind last time he was here will finally see Billy in the winners box.

Thursday 11th August - A few horses and a decagon of angles for the golf.

Yep, I'm going in 10-handed for the golf, I usually do 5 x US and 5x European each week, as there is only the USPGA this week I may as well strengthen my arm up a little. You will find my tips at the bottom with the best odds available, (please remember to check laddies, I do not put them in my odds comparer as I work for them and it makes any information worthless!)
The children seem to have stopped stealing trainers and telly's now. That's handy. There was talk of a large group trying to get together in Ipswich, allegedly they were going to meet up in Christchurch Park at midnight! I'm guessing that when they got there it was locked so they went home again. Another place that got trashed was Romford market place, I don't know if any of you have seen Romford market place at the end of a days trading, technically these youths were unwittingly part of Riotcleanup!
That's it for that, I've had pretty strong opinions on the topic and I've not been afraid to share them, but I've said my piece and you'll hear no more about it from me. Cracking start from the England cricket team yesterday. Try and post a monster score today lads, then bowl as ferociously on Friday, you'll be able to have the weekend off as officially the best cricketers in the world. England cricket number 1 in the world! When the hell did that happen! It's a god thing.

Tuesday 9th August - Trying to find some positive!

I myself, like most of you I guess, am glued to my TV screen of an evening, watching the carnage caused by a few brainless yobs. I've put my thoughts, and a few wisecracks, on twitter over the last couple of evenings. For now, I will just share my worry. My main worry is that, if the police do not take a grip of the situation then people will. People will not stand around watching their homes, businesses, livelihoods and communities being destroyed for no reason whatsoever. Unless it is sharply stopped we will breed vigilantism and then people will get seriously hurt and there 9is the possibility of descent into a state of emergency.
On a good note, living in sleepy suffolk myself and my family SHOULD be clear of the carnage touch wood. Well anyway, this morning my wife is at work and my son is at nursery so I shall be spending some quality Daddy/daughter time with my little girl. I think we are off to feed the ducks before a gourmet fish and chips spread for lunch.
I do hope that everyone I know in London and the surrounding areas are safe and well, and hopefully this carnage will come to an end sooner, rather than later. I suggest catching and hanging, but that's just me. These riots are continuing because the kids of today have no respect or, more importantly, fear of authority.

Monday 8th August - Drab

Not a lot to inspire my awe today. Picked out 4 selections, all tonight. This sucks. What did we learn this weekend? We learnt that Maybe is a bigger classic chance than she has looked before, but 4/1 is far too short to wait 9 months for. We learnt that there is no way Power should be run from the front. We learnt that Deacon Blues is a real force to be reckoned with. In the football we learnt yesterday that Teamwork and belief will always be more successful than lots of money and mercenaries. We also learnt that West Ham will always be West Ham, they have a superior side than that which appeared in the premier league yet still couldn't put away Cardiff, who incidently (in my opinion) have a weaker side than last year. Micheal Chopra still knows where the goal is.
The biggest thing we learnt, completely unrelated to sport, is that there are some people around the N17 area of North London that are completely and utterly brainless. All the talk has been of a peaceful, no trouble chap being shot, and the answer for justice is apparently to cause carnage, and set fire to your home town. Idiots.
I will this week, mostly be aquiring fantasy football teams and entering as many leagues as humanly possible. You've gotta love a bit of Fantasy footie.

Sunday 7th August - I need my readers back.

I understand that after 4 successive losing days, people may lose a bit of patience with me, but we've completely turned a corner today, to an extent that no winners today will only see us 4points down. Yesterday was a good day, however it could have been great. We got 4 winners, 2 seconds and 6 thirds. The each way treble was let down by a 4th place, the other two being 1st and 2nd. The football bet didn't turn up though, 2 draws and a win does not a successful treble make.
The trickiest race to call today is the 2yo fillies event at the Curragh. Obviously Maybe looks the class horse in the race, and her underfoot versatility may be the key today. I like, however, Remember Alexander. She was a very useful winner over this distance in a group 3 at Leopardstown, she had a tricky run here when second to the very useful Power on debut, and that could be the telling formline. Another to watch is Yellow Rosebud, she looked very impressive on debut, hardly breaking sweat in the process, anything sent out by Dermot Weld can never be disregarded.

Saturday 6th August - Shergar Cup Day - Keep the faith people.

Firstly I implore you all to keep the faith. I saw a significant drop in numbers yesterday after my bad run, yet yesterday I made back all the losses for August so far. I understand that a losing run can be disheartening. Believe me I get up at silly a.m to study and pick out some horses. I then put myself out there, by publishing my thoughts on the internet. Trust me when I say this, when you guys follow me and lose it hits me both financially, as I back all my tips, and mentally as I second guess myself and search for a reason why I haven't won.
There is going to be a new feature, The £5 Saturday footy bet. I've picked out a treble with the top 3 bookies prices for you and will add it to the end of this blog. I shall keep you up to date with how we get on.
I shouldn't imagine I'll be hugely active on twitter today as I'm expecting a busy day at work but I'll put on any observations where possible.
I had better get on with my selections as the kids are up and will most likely begin clammering for their breakfast before too long, although Rastamouse is keeping them entertained and the moment, easy now!

Friday 5th August - Goodbye Canford and thanks.

Firstly we have to thank Canford Cliffs for the memories he has given us, from his 6 length demolition of the field in the Coventry stakes, to a run a five successive group 1 wins, starting with the Irish 2000 guineas. Always a popular horse he mill be missed, but hopefully he will delight a few lady horses and we can have some punting fun with his offspring. A bookmaker yesterday announced a drop in their half year operating profits to a measly 93 million. I'm glad I don't have to make do with 93 million for 6 months, I don't know how I'd survive! That is £6.03p per second. Just saying.

Right onto the serious business, my prior posts are a bit out of date but I'll go and update them with winners (shouldn't take too long) shortly. Just the 1 yesterday thanks to Kieran Fallon. Only 5 bets today. Saving a bit for Ascot tomorrow, people knock the Shergar cup, but I think it's good fun. I back Ireland to win every year, then cheer on England. Strange but it's tradition.

Thursday 4th August - My head hurts

Initially I should both thank Yarmouth racecourse for their hospitally last night, and then curse them for the way I feel this morning. I backed the winne rin the first last night and that was it! Credit must go to Luke Morris for his double last night. He was given some tricky rides to say the least, he even got launched off in the parade ring off one he went on to win with. I'm just going to give my selections now.

Wednesday 3rd August - ?

Well today is a far from inspiring day of racing! Off to Yarmouth races tonight. I'll tweet anything interesting from the paddock. Looking at the cards, I'm not sure there will be too much interesting! I'm sorry people I've really not got the drive to write a lot today so I'll tell you a joke.
Paddy and his wife Julie were in bed, being kept awake by the neighbours dog barking in the garden. "oi've had enough of dis" says Paddy and he marches downstairs. He comes back 5 minutes later and Julie asks "what have you done?" Paddy says "Oi've put it in our garden, lets see how dey loike it."

Tuesday 2nd August - Time to break the curse

The tagline is for one reason only, I believe that I curse the O'Meara/Tudhope connection. They have spells of great form, the minute I latch onto it with a bet it stops. Todays NAP is for said connections and with Mr O'Meara bagging a couple of winners yesterday, I'd say they are in a bit of form. Yesterday, the girls put on a feast at what normally would have been a mundane evening card from Carlisle. We saw a tremendous ride from Sophie Doyle aboard Opus Maximus, although I feel I may have upset her a little by comparing it's merits to those of Hayley's ride aboard Efistorm, essentially that was a close minded thing to do and Sophie, I hope you'll accept my apology. We saw Amy Ryan land herself in hot water by dropping her hands. The disappointing thing is that given the gamble on Ryan's mount in that race combined that it was the last, mixed with the exposure of the evening, among the common betting shop neanderthal it will have taken a few steps back after what had been a giant step forward. I heard it all last night. One horse won and I heard, "I always back that horse, but I didn't cos of the jockey" "oh my god(or words to that effect) I wouldn't have bothered coming in if i knew they were all women" and some rather more colourful phrasing directed at the TV's. I though the night was a great event, and a far better betting spectacle. The races were all very competitve. and apart from Amy Ryan's error we saw horses being ridden out to their max potential. I hope they raised a fantastic amount of money, and as long as it doesn't become a considerably regular thing, that would circusify it a little, then a reprisal would be more than welcome in my eyes. One little tip for you that's not horsey related, get aboard Newcastle to get relegated from the premier league. The rate they are going they won't have any players left by next week, let alone any good ones. I still haven't written my Football Season blog up and will do my best to knock one out before the season starts on Saturday. It won't be Wednesday night though as am off to Yarmouth races with Dave Monk to celebrate his impending life sentence, I mean Marriage. Right off we go with some tips, i've had a little ramble today.
