Good Morning, a bit of a 'mare to close March, but thankfully we can leave that chapter behind. It's been a tough year so far, but my betting bank is roughly 100 points a month and I'm keeping within that so it's not tragic. 5 seconds yesterday wasn't a huge help to the stats, hopefully we can find a few winners on a very busy day today, it won't be easy but I'm giving it a good crack. Lots of selections across the meeting, then there is my footy treble and BTTS, and I've bet one tennis match tonight.
I'll get straight into it.

Morning, just the one obliged yesterday, but it was the NAP and it returned 7/1 so that's a solid enough profit. I have 5 today, I'm pretty keen on them all, hopefully they won't go and make me look the fool. I don't like anything in the 2yo race at Wolverhampton tonight so I've left that. In fact I don't like anything at Wolves tonight. Right here goes.
TENBRIDGE 130 LINGFIELD
"Blinkers so very nearly had the desired effect last time as 50/1 speculators (including myself) were left to ponder what could have been. Owing to her very disappointing winter campaign she's still very much below her standard mark and hopefully she can get her nose in front today. "
BLUE NOODLES 200 LINGFIELD
"I've been following this one all winter too, although as sod would have it written in his law I somehow managed to avoid when he got up at 14/1. He wasn't far away off this mark last time and history shows it's not too high for him. I'm sure he'll find his nose in front before much longer again. "
COPPERWOOD 310 SOUTHWELL
"This horse landed back to back successes this time of year on this sort of mark last year so is seemingly well treated. I think the slightly smaller field might suit better than last time, we'll have to see. Also I'm quite sure this track will suit better than Wolves as he likes a test, although last visit here he was well beaten. "
FALASTEEN 405 LINGFIELD
"A long time since he visited the winners enclosure, but backers must be wondering what might have been last time when the hood came off late and he was left behind. He found himself in a respectable position at the finish and on a favourable mark, with a level break, he could well reward those who keep the faith. Richard Kingscote is back on today and he is a jockey I like over 5 furlongs. "
MAKINSON LANE 455 SOUTHWELL (NAP)
"There's better on show here than the bare 4th of 4 last time suggests. This is the scene of his only win for starters, he maintains a steady mark, and he looks to have a decent attitude. He didn't get a clear run last time and kept up to his job despite having little chance to win. I think we could have a fibresand specialist on our hands here, there's fair AW form through the sire, unsure of exact fibresand stats, but we'll see. Hopefully he can prove me right. "

Well the profit run came to a halt yesterday, just the one winner at a short price I'm afraid. I only have 3 today in a rather uninspiring days racing. All at Lingfield, hopefully I can have 2 of them for a profit.
350 LITTLE INDIAN
"Seemingly getting the hang of the game, and last 2 runs, both over C&D have been much improved from what has preceded. Handicapper has relieved him of a further pound and hopefully that can get him in the frame. All 3 that finished ahead of him in January have come out and won since so this ones maiden breaking run shouldn't be far away."
420 LILY EDGE
"A progressive filly, she's come full of running to win her last 2 and with the most recent being a handicap also it would appear that the 2lb rise is pretty fair. There's no telling where the roff of her ability will come. Jockey gets on with her having ridden on 2 of 3 starts. "
450 NORFOLK SKY
"This is a real interesting battle today, the favourite will be chasing a four-timer, the second is back on the rise after a tumble down the weights and Norfolk Sky sits 3rd in the betting also progressing steadily. The other 2 can't particularly be written off out of hand either. As good as the 2 claimers are on the top 2 they aren't in the league of Ryan Moore or indeed Jim Crowley who rides the selection. She won under Jim 2 starts ago and he gets back on today, last time out she was narrowly nabbed for second spot and only a 1lb rise for that. If you like RPR's W ran 84 up 8lb, AD ran 78 up 6lb, NS ran 78 up 1lb. Seems fair!"

Morning all, apologies no blog yesterday, you can blame that white shit that's tumbling from the sky, I just couldn't be bothered covering the Southwell card. We are on a run though. 3 consecutive profitable days, and I'm quietly confident about today, although when I'm confident I usually lose! Either way, I have a few horses and a double on the tennis. I've got 2 at Wincanton, hopefully it's on as my NAP is there but if not then so be it.

Friday 22-3-13
Hello, a second profitable day on the bounce. Obviously the natural reaction is to bet on everything that moves, no seriously I have a pretty complicated system and it's given me a lot of bets today. Especially at the 3 flat meetings. In other news, 2 year olds!!! I like the 2 year olds, as long term followers will attest my newbie corner has picked out some ridiculous winners including 1000 Guineas hope Viztoria when she won on debut at 33/1 and Nadema Rose a 100/1 winner at Yarmouth. For new followers, although it's nice to get the first time out winners, sometimes conditions aren't quite in favour or they need a run, essentially they are for your notebooks to follow for maybe the first 3 runs and see how they go. I found plenty of winners on 2nd or 3rd run last year and hopefully that will continue.
I'll give my selections, no writeups today I'm afraid but I'm working between 12 and 10 so I'll be just a tweet away if you've any questions.

Morning all, and a neck away from really putting the facts and figures a bit straighter yesterday. I hope if any of you followed on Tenbridge that, unlike me, you took each way or a place option! Well we move on. 5 places yesterday, 4 of which 2nd. The 50/1 obviously stings the hardest. But we try, try and try again. I have 11 today, hopefully we can turn these places into wins.
ON BROADWAY 310 HAYDOCK (NAP)
"This looks a very competitive 4 horse race. But I have to look here. This one will definitely handle the ground as is a heavy ground winner. Trainer Lucinda Russell can be backed blind to a level stakes profit at the course. I expect this one to try to make all through the testing conditions and if things go to plan could come home alone."
FLAXEN LAKE 645 KEMPTON (Nb)
"This one seems to win once a year, but there's ability there, at this level. He's on 48 today and might be worth jotting down for nto if he doesn't get up today as his last 2 wins have come off 46. He's also placed 2nd off 47. He found some tough luck in running last time and perhaps could exploit the handicappers generosity here. "
MIDNIGHT BELLE 435 WARWICK
"She landed a gamble over this trip at Ludlow 2 starts ago, but failed to get home over an extended 3m under a penalty since. Back down in trip will suit and the ground shouldn't hold any issue. She's a bit of an enigma as a Midnight Legend progeny who doesn't front run, although maybe that's an option connections are keeping up there sleeves. The biggest danger for me is Matrows Lady but that one has to give away a stone and half. "

Morning all and the slump continues. I feel like Spurs with my little collapse right now. Hopefully results will be more favourable today. Still getting places with a couple very close yesterday so fingers crossed.
DARE ME 300 EXETER NAP
"Venetia Williams' charge unfortunately ran into 2 festival bound animals over course and distance last time, and before that met only a very well handicapped Cantlow. For me he has an advantage at the weights over his only real rival here and should be another success for the inform Williams-Coleman partnership. "
DUBAWI ISLAND 440 WOLVERHAMPTON Nb
"I've Nap'd this one a couple of times recently, he hasn't been punished by the handicapper for a string of placed efforts and it's clear that he remains capable of winning, he just needs to believe it himself. 2 concerns that have relegated him to an Nb today are that he is stepping up in trip, although he's been shown as 1 paced of the bridle he has never thrown in the towel so no suggestion he won't get the trip. And the track, his better runs seem to have come on the Fibresand at Southwell. "
CALIFORNIA ENGLISH 340 WOLVERHAMPTON
"This one makes up my treble. If he can refind the form of his C&D 2nd, in front of a next time out winner, in January he should be well in here with the 2lb relent from the handicapper. Jockey Andrea Atzeni is in decent form right now as is trainer Marco Botti. "

A frustrating day yesterday, as records highlight a sizeable loss but I had 7, yes 7 placed horses. I have 15 today, hopefully we can turn a profit and get back on the right track.

Morning, and happy St Patricks Day to those concerned. I remember a St Patricks day when I lived in Cricklewood, NW London. I think the whole broadway from Kilburn, almost to Edgeware was filled with humans drinking and singing, and inevitably cars beeping furiously trying to get about there business. It was madness. Those who celebrate, I'll raise you a glass of guiness later, hope you all have a great day. Anyway, a small loss yesterday on the scale of things. A few small margins that could have made the difference but that's just the way it goes I guess. I'm not having the best of times of it at the moment, but I remain convinced that the turnaround isn't far away. I'll try again. Currently I'm watching my Formula 1 bets disappear. I had Hulkenberg Top 6, he didn't start, Rosberg Podium, he's just gone off, I have Sutil points, so I fully expecting him not to finish either!

Good Morning all, the end of Cheltenham is greeted with mixed feelings this end, it's a shame it's over and we have to wait another year for a condensation of quality NH racing but it was an expensive week this year. Although has the flow of luck changed? Salsify looked done for when the winner elect tried to run himself out and dumped his young jockey onto the floor. And then the very race after Nagpur looked beaten but a brilliant rallying run under the exceptional Tom Cannon landed a place at 33/1. I'm well and truly going to war today, mainly because I'm working 11am til 10pm and it will help the day go quicker, I've staggered my stakes a little so I shall bold my main bets. I'll give you a little treble on the Euro football too, just because I'm nice. Anyway hope you had a better week at Cheltenham than me and here are todays bets this end.

Morning all, Finally a winner at the festival despite another poor day. I'll probably have a poor day today too, the internet has been winding me up all morning. I've had to go off my own notes and they are sketchy to say the least. So I'm throwing a lot of darts. Best of Luck.

Apologies that no betting guide has been completed for today or tomorrow. I haven't really had the time unfortunately. I'll give brief reasoning for my Cheltenham bets today with a couple dark horses to look at, My main bet will be the one in capitals. For me, Cheltenham this year has been frustrating so far. That could all change by one horse winning tomorrow, but we'll get there tomorrow, hopefully I can build up more stake to throw at it.
CHELTENHAM
130 JEWSON NOVICES CHASE
I'm a big fan of CAPTAIN CONAN and that is where my money is lying today. The Captain was a decent hurdler who has become a very nice chaser, he's unbeaten this season and showed last time that he's capable of getting the job done in a scrap, when it's against him. Dynaste will have his followers, but he's too short for me, Aupcharlie as well, he is a much better chaser than he was a hurdler but I think he wants further than this. A couple at bigger prices DESERT CRY from Donald McCain is taking a big step up in class but he's progressive so we've no idea how good he is, and may prefer a bit of cut, which he didn't get last time. THIRD INTENTION, I think the Tizzard's are going to have a good day today, this one really made Capatain Conan work for the win last time and could very well put himself in there with the big guns, at odds of 18/1-20/1 it's got to be worth a pound of any each way players money.
205 PERTEMPS FINAL HANDICAP
This is a culmination of a little series, the qualifying for the final is a bit loose, I think you only have to be declared for one of the 50odd qualifiers to have a chance of a run here, which in my eyes sort of nullifies the point, anyway BALLYBOUGH PAT is my selection for the excellent Anthony Honeyball. He hit the last when 2nd to Fair Along in a Newbury series qualifier, before coming third to one of yesterdays leading Neptune contenders. His mark looks fair, I've a lot of time for jockey Nick Schofield so I'm in. AMERICAN TRILOGY is just 1lb higher than when winning the County Hurdle here all them years ago, with a useful removal of 5lb from the talented Harry Derham he is certainly well treated if he's at his best today. And the other "american" AMERICAN SPIN, has found his way back more or less to his last winning mark, 3 starts ago, he's struggle against this sort of level to date but who knows not he's been given a chance by the handicapper.
240 RYANAIR CHASE
The Neptune was mouth-watering and I think this rival's it. Micheal O'Leary will be loving it, and naturally his horse First Lieutenant is the market leader. I like the horse, he likes the course, I'll not put you off betting him if you fancy him, but I'm going elsewhere. CUE CARD, this one will go on and try to win this from the front, he's a talent, only one horse has gotten closer to Sprinter Sacre over fences (I'll tell you who that is tomorrow if you a)don't know or b)can't be arsed to look) He might have a challenge for the lead here, Champion Court likes to lead at times, but if Cue Card leads and jumps well I think he gives himself the best chance of winning. GHIZAO for the monster each way players isn't without a chance, Ruby on his back puts him up there really and he's gotten within 2 lengths of a Champion Chase winner in the past so if things don't go to plan then he could mop up the smaller money. MENORAH, the enigma that is Menorah, he needs a true pace or his jumping gets well anmd truly found out. I think with the stayers in here he should get it, he's certainly good enough to make the frame and you can get 8/1 for your money which is probably about the shortest I offer up an each way bet so he's just about a value chance for me.
320 WORLD HURDLE
Trends show that 70% of the winners over the last decade have been called Inglis Drever or Big Bucks :-), it's a crying shame the big fella isn't able to take his chance here today. His owner has hinted that he will be trained to solely run in this race next year, so watch this space, we might get a tasty price about his swansong. Listen, nothing in here is of the class of those two horses, to bve fair very little has been hence their respective dominance. One horses that got pretty close to BB was Grand Crus but unfortunately his chance, and my AP money, went by the wayside with a "less than 110% scope" which sounds a little ominous to me. I'm mostly just moaning through my wallet though, and the horses' wellbeings are truly my main concern. So where do we go with our money? It's a toughy. Oscar Whisky won't win, ask me again in 3 weeks time when he's over half a mile shorter at Aintree and I'll tell you he's the banker of the few days. Reve De Sivola has done little wrong, in fact he's done very much right, he's by no means as dependant on mucky ground as some suggest but the fact remains that his best performances as a chaser have come on it. I'm looking at SMAD PLACE, a progressive sort last year and we've not seen the best of him this. Wayne Hutchinson will be on a high after yesterday and this festival is really his chance to shine and confirm that he is an excellent horseman. There's double figure prices dotted about for this, which is daft really. GET ME OUT OF HERE is a habitual Festival runner up. I've seen him put up by a few judges, will he get the trip? There's only one way to find out! WONDERFUL CHARM. This is the horse that Nicholls/Walsh have chosen to take to war in the absence of their superstar. Looked mighty impressive on British debut when readily landing a grade 2 novice over 2 and half miles. This is an extra half mile sure but nothing that day suggested it would be too much. He could also get a solid form boost earlier, hopefully, from Ballybough Pat. Ladbrokes this morning are taking on Oscar Whisky and Reve De Sivola and don't want to know Solwhit and Wonderful Charm so that's a little pointer too.
400 BYRNE GROUP PLATE
A grade 3 chase over the Ryanair trip. Ballynagour appears to be this year "Pipe Handicap Plot", but I'm going to put this out here, David Pipe isn't in the same league as his father. I mean no offence, I think David is clearly a very good trainer, certainly in the top 10-20 but his father was top 3 in his time and a true master. The Pipe stable hasn't had much of a festival and I feel could be the layers dream with 2 favourites today. THEATRE GUIDE for me here. I think this one is chucked in. There are plenty formclues to pass earlier in the day. This horse on chase debut destroyed Hinterland by 11 lengths, ran into Dynaste on next 2 starts and wasn't able to show his best but on most recent start he was coming all out to beat Grandioso before taking a tumble at the last. A recreation of that run sees him very well handicapped here. HUNT BALL is one of these lovely stories that sport throws up, and I'm sure someone, somewhere will capture it in a film. Just 18 months ago this horse was rated 68 and winning a class 5 novice handicap chase at Folkestone, this year he was talked about as a gold cup horse. Connections finally made the choice to come here. He destroyed a useful field at last years festival, putting away 2 horses that have gone on and placed again this year. On his last start in the Argento he really looked like he was going to throw it down to Gold Cup contenders including a previous winner but the trip saw him off in the end. The mark looks right, the trip looks right. Yeah, I'd like to see HB back in the winners enclosure. CASEY TOP is my dark horse to watch. Hugh Taylor has put him up so his price has all but gone, although Billy Hill and 365 are holding onto 33's. He ran very well when attempting to make all here in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at the November meeting. Last summer another bold show saw him second in the Galway Plate. Between those runs he struggled through the mud in the Kerry Guiness Chase. Expect a very bold run for your money from this one and a very live each way chance.
440 FULKE WALWYN KIM MUIR CHALLENGE CUP (Amateur Jockeys)
These races often prove fruitful to look at jockeys, look at yesterdays NH chase, Patrick Mullins, Nina Carberry, Nico De Boinville. Simples Today they ride Vesper Bell, Romanesco and Prince of Pirates respectively so I wouldn't put you off starting there. DEAL DONE is my first selection at a big price. Jockey Mr J J King has won races, and has 4 wins and 6 places from 29 rides for Dessie Hughes. This horse has been here, in November. A slightly longer trip saw to his chances as did a couple mistakes on the way round. He's been dropped a couple of pounds for that when a clear run over this trip might arguably have seen him go closer. RELAX for Venetia Williams takes my interest with Will Biddick, a top P2P jockey who Venetia likes to use for these events. He has ridden more time under rules here at Cheltenham than anywhere else. The horse struggled under a penalty last time out so that limits me to only offer up as a small bet, but certainly one on the up with a chance of a place. COURT BY SURPRISE is another place chance for me. I fear I know little about the jockey, and the trainer is on the cold list. I'm not inspiring you am I? This horse has however finished first 3 in half his starts, the jockeys 7lb claim puts him effectively 4lb lower than last winning mark and worth a little squeak at 40/1.

Tuesday 12-3-13
Morning all, it's that time of the year when Middle aged men, and women, clad in tweed are as excited as an 8yo on christmas morning. It doesn't need any introduction to those of you who follow racing religiously but I know some of my readers only log on when there is something big on, and to be fair, you are the chaps, and chapesses, that I do this for really. Cheltenham is the best festival of racing on the planet, in my eyes, this is the aim for any NH trainer, owner, jockey. They all want to be a part of it. Even the guys that just come here and win every year, they still get the same excitement, anticipation and anxiety every year. I don't think any other does that. A slight twist today, I'm going to put up 3 for each festival race. The first one is my main bet. The one that I'm resting my chances on. The second a danger, one that mightn't be at the forefront of the betting but a chance to sneak a little surprise. The third is merely one that fits the trends, you know those things I've been harping on about in the betting guides! The others might fit trends too, but I've tried to choose a completely independent one. Right I'll get on.

Cheltenham Festival Betting Survival Guide Day 2
Welcome to the second installment of the Cheltenham preview. This day last year was a winner for me as Teaforthree was one of my bankers for the festival. I think the missus landed Champagne Fever at 16's in the bumper too, because he had pink silks! Anyway lets take a look at the races.
JOHN OAKSEY NATIONAL HUNT CHASE
A 4 mile steeplechase for Amateur jockeys. 7 and 8 year old horses have had the best of the results. A few more intriguing stats, 8 of the last 10 winners ran in a novice chase prior to this race, 6 of the last 10 had placed form at the track, and 8 of last 10 winners were 6/1 or shorter on previous start. This is all relatively easy information to find out, using the main sites. It's a pretty tough call at the moment though, nothing truly stands out although Alan King has taken to book top amateur Nico de Boinville aboard GODSMEJUDGE, Rebecca Curtis won this last year and she has BENHEIR still in at this stage with the services of the very talented Patrick Corbett to call on. Whatever Patrick Mullins climbs on for Willie has to have a chance. I won't be betting this race until the day, but look at the trends intitially and then any jockeys you recognise and you should be able to narrow down a tricky field.
NEPTUNE INVESTMENT NOVICE HURDLE
There's one in this that confuses me a little, I'll get to that. Stats. The last 10 winners have all been aged either 5 or 6. This isn't the best race for favourites, a lot come here under a bit of hype, truth be told. A better stat is that 7 of the last 10 winners ran in a Grade 1 or 2 last time out. And the longest running stat is that only 1 horse since 1982 has won this race having finished 3rd or worse last time out. At the top of the market PONT ALEXANDRE is the big Irish hope, and it's easy to see why, but as I've said before this race has had it's fair share of hype and it's likely the price will be relatively untrue. THE NEW ONE will be popular too but I'd be a little wary and keep an eye on the form of any runners from the Twiston Davies yard before having a bet. TAQUIN DE SEUIL has some solid form in the book too. But I like the next 3. Mouse Morris won this in 2011 and he saddles RULE THE WORLD, a very progressive individual who has come on from the only blip in his copybook. PUFFIN BILLY hasn't been suited by small fields and heavy ground last twice and should be able to operate to his best here on Wednesday. Finally CHATTERBOX, this horse seems to be going along almost unnoticed. It's odd. This looks to be the target, he's beaten My Tent or Yours and Lac Fontana who both continue to be subject to hype. I'm talking myself into a bet on this one before you all steam in and steal the price. :-)
There has been a few days break in between writing and the better ground I was hoping for may well not arise now, I shan't change what has gone before but from here on in will not be anticipating it.
RSA CHASE
Form coming into the race is a must for this event, in the last 10 runnings, all winners finished 1st or 2nd lto, and all had won in current season. 8 of the last 10 winners was aged 7, and 9 of the last 10 Irish Bred. 3 of the last 4 winners contested the Moriarty Novice Chase, this year won by BOSTON BOB. The best official rating coming in is UNIONISTE, and Ruby Walsh has declared his hand jocked up for this one early ahead of the Mullins contingent. David Pipe's GOULANES fits the trends quite nicely, and is now the stable choice with Dynaste headed elsewhere. What he's done hasn't been breathtaking but he comes in on great form and seems to find what he needs. This is a step up but he should relish a real slog.
QUEEN MOTHER CHAMPION CHASE
Day 2's headline act is "The Black Aeroplane" SPRINTER SACRE. I don't know how much worth there is looking at trends here. The main one is that this race doesn't really throw up shocks. In 62 runnings there has only been one winner priced higher than 12/1! There isn't a major amount of age bias, it's just a case that these are the best horses about under these conditions. Last year I questioned whether SPRINTER SACRE would be able to do it off the bridle and the truth was he didn't need to, he jumped his Arkle rivals into the ground and I'd expect much the same here. Voy Por Ustedes, Big Zeb, Sizing Europe all won this having won the Arkle the previous year and I don't see why this year should be different. Betting without the favourite. You'll just have to see what lines up I guess.
CORAL CUP
One for the real analysts to get there teeth into. A highly competitive hurdle over 2m5f. I had Carlito Brigante for this 2 years ago. Which was nice. There aren't many clear trends in this race, I guess due to the real competitive nature of the handicap. Form isn't a massive necessary, last years winner had season figures of 9090. A strange one though is that only one winner of the Coral Cup had won at Cheltenham previously. The most recently prominent stat is that 9 of the last 10 runners had been off the track for over 30 days, so anything that's been chucked out to get a mark to steal a spot in the race has probably done little more than get his owners a nice day out. 6 of the last 7 winners have gone off between 10-16/1, and only 1 of last 10 was bigger than 16/1. So that's a good place to look really. Where I've used these stats to filter the race I'm left with 9 runners. The only one I've got left that appears this is definitely the target (I might be wrong) is Nigel Twiston Davies' MASTER OF THE SEA, with son Sam declared to ride. He comes into the race very progressive and the slog shouldn't prove an issue as he has enjoyed the winter ground.
FRED WINTER JUVENILE HANDICAP HURDLE
With only 8 runnings to go on there are two stats that stand out. 7 winners all did not win their first 2 starts over hurdles, and again that 7 of the winners had raced within 25 days prior to this race. It's a very tricky race to call. Which is shown that 2 winners have come in at 40/1. This one I'll leave until the day to make a decision. Another thing to consider is that fillies have shown up well in previous years, winning 4 of the 8 runnings. Good Luck.
THE CHAMPION BUMPER
Irish Trainers have a solid record in this, at a guess I'd put that down to field sizes in Irish bumpers compared to some over here. There has only been 1 4yo winner since 1996, that was Cue Card 3 years ago. Other than that 5/6 yo very much hold sway. Cue Card again a trend basher is the only horse to win having not won previous start. 9 of the last 10 winners had previously won a bumper of 13 or more runners. Which I guess accentuates my earlier point regarding the English and Irish trained horses. 2 I'm thinking fit the profie right now, both relatively near the top of the market are UNION DUES and GOLANTILLA.
I hope this helps you in some way to make your selections. My bets as always will be posted on the morning each day. Hopefully I can get day 3 sorted and up later tonight.

Morning, a loss on Saturday, a small profit Sunday. Very disappointed with Sunday though. Tugboat never showed up, Man Utd threw away the win, so those situations cost me money and then Spurs lost too! I haven't really got a lot for you today. I literally had 7 horses flick up this morning and I'm only backing 1, it's probably more an each way shot but I just think, you never know. My thoughts on it and my tennis double are on my OLBG profile, hope you can stop by to read. But here they are.

Happy Mothers Day to all those concerned, especially my own, although she's most likely not reading this! Yesterday was a disaster for me, potential cheltenham funds wittered away as did the hours. A couple winners kept the pot clear of the bottom and a Watford win would have see me nicely the other way but Watford chose the week I had 3 bets waiting for them to finally shit a brick. Cheers. I'm looking to rekindle a festival pot today with Man Utd and Tugboat 310 Naas, they are my main fancies. No tennis bets today, none of the games qualify, at least we got that double last night! I have 5 horses in total but the other 4 are much smaller bets than the boat. Sorry, I'm rambling a bit, I apologise for the completely unwelcome lack of continuity in this post. I'll just give you my bets.

Morning all, 2/5 and a small profit made yesterday. Happy days. Hope some of you got to see the Cheltenham Day 1 guide, if you didn't then check it out. I'm already putting together Day 2 so hopefully I can get that up before the Spurs game tonight, otherwise it will likely be over the weekend. Comments on my main fancies are up on olbg.com, there should be a link to get there on my full site somewhere. Cheltenham Festival Betting Survival Guide Day 1
Last year for Cheltenham I wrote a blog with a lot of bets in, using up a lot of points funding. To be fair I got out of jail with the drift on Big Bucks for the World Hurdle, but no real headway was made from that blog. At Royal Ascot I switched it up a bit. I will scour the stats, trends, races and contenders and point you all in the right direction. Go back and read the Ascot blogs if you wish and then check the results, they stand up to strict scrutiny if I do say so myself. We'll start at the best place to do so, with the roar and the
SUPREME NOVICE HURDLE
Brave Inca, in 2004, was the last Jolly to win this race. An interesting stat is that all of the winners have won 3 times prior to coming into this race. French Bred horses have only managed 1 winner, from 37 runners. Although that was Al Ferof 2 years ago so could be a trend on the way out. It's 50/50 this race between the English and Irish trainers although the last 3 have all hailed from these shores. Also interesting is that this race has eluded Nicky Henderson and he saddles the favourite MY TENT OR YOURS. I shan't begin the "he hasn't run at Cheltenham, so he can't do the hill debate", but his response to pressure is a little worrying, he tends to hang left and while game doesn't appear to have a real turn of foot. I may be wrong, I have been before. But this is seen by many as a banker and I'm happy to take him on. But with what. Most of the horses in here are favoured by the trends. MELODIC RENDEZVOUS is progressive and comes in in great form but has done his best winning in the mud, which is unlikely next week. DODGING BULLETS, twice a course winner, struggled through bottomless ground at Kempton when third to the late Darlan, ground will be better and will suit him much more come Tuesday. RULE THE WORLD and JEZKI are 2 I like from the Emerald Isle, with the latter being the preference. Like I say so many fit the trends they really do. On the day the top 6 in the betting have provided 8/10 winners with only 2 favs so you're looking ideally for something 3-6 in the betting. With 0 4yo winners and only 1 aged 7 or higher then 5-6 appears to be the best play. Based on this snippet you're looking perhaps at DODGING BULLETS. We'll see. My final decision will be made and relayed on the day as always.
ARKLE
Race 2 of Day 1 is the Arkle. Favourites have bookended the last 10 runnings, it's certainly not a regularity. However there's never been a winner higher than 9/1 either. Sizing Europe, 2010, is the only 8yo to win this, the rest have been younger. SIMONSIG is the jolly here, another interesting one though, whereby the only time he's been gotten off the bridle he never had an answer. OVERTURN is next in the market, and this horse only knows one way to run, go go go, this will likely help SIMONSIG as he'll have something to aim at. It'll be interesting to see what lines up here. MAJALA could be an interesting one if deciding upon this target.
JLT SPECIALTY CHASE
Race 3. All of the last 10 winners have been rated between 129 and 143. Only Bensalem has won carrying more than 11 stone. There has not been a 6yo winner, nor one aged 11+. As for the jolly, only 3 favourites have won this race since 1969. You should be able to use that to find something you fancy when the final line up is known. Again unsure if he'll line up as yet but Phillip Hobbs' DUKE OF LUCCA looks potentially well treated.
CHAMPION HURDLE
The day's centrepiece. Just 10 remain at the 5 day stage. 1 of which, Cotton Mill is rated unlikely. But we should have 9. With all credit to Khyber Kim and Balder Succes I think this is beyond them. 6-8 is the age range of choice historically so we say thanks for coming to Binocular and Hurricane Fly, who both did for each other last year when allowing a soft lead, in my opinion. Countrywide Flame would have it to fine through Rock on Ruby on better ground. So we're looking at last years winner ROCK ON RUBY, GRANDOUET, ZARKANDAR, and CINDERS AND ASHES. I've deliberately left C&A in as we haven't had a chance to see him on decent ground and he's done it here, this day, last year. ROCK ON RUBY wants a pace to aim at for me. He got a tow from Overturn last year and I think he would have been beat if he'd gotten involved with Binocular and the Fly. GRANDOUET will travel like a winner, but he's made errors jumping when pace switches up and also has been found out off the bridle. ZARKANDAR has done no wrong this year, gave over a stone to rivals on seasonal reappearance at Wincaton and then twice since plugged through horrid ground gamely to do the business.
GLENFARCAS CROSS COUNTRY CHASE
Phillip Hobbs' BALTHAZAR KING was the first British trained runner I've seen win one of these last year. The Irish just seem to care a bit more. The market generally get this race right so stay near the top, and Enda Bolger just seems to know how to train horses for this course. It's more a watching brief for me, provided no fatalities, it's a wonderful spectacle.
OLBG MARES HURDLE
QUEVEGA bids to be the first horse to win the same race at the festival 5 times. Can anything stop her? NO. It's as simple as that. There doesn't appear to be any hype horse lining up so she won't be any sort of price, just sit back and watch as super mare make history.
REWARDS FOR RACING NOVICES HANDICAP CHASE
Last year won by the story that was Hunt Ball. Horses rated in the mid-130's have a decent record in this race. As a rule you are looking for horses that placed at least last time out and half of the winners ran at the previous years festival. I'm always a fan of horses that jock-up early, it shows an indication of intent in my eyes. So taking the trends into account I'm prepared to finish Day 1 off with a bet.
THE DRUIDS NEPHEW 10/1 and
ATTAGLANCE 10/1
is my dutch.

Morning all, broke even yesterday, which I guess is better than losing. I have 9 today, 1 at each NH meet and then an outrageous attempt to go through the card at the sandpit. I'm going to have a little straightline placepot and hope for the best i think. If you ever want to see my stronger bets and some comments I post these on Olbg.com (the bets are on here, just the comments are additional) and look me up GSPCCOYS, I'll crack on.

Morning all, a small loss yesterday but 3 seconds, so we were close. I only have 7 today and none are really major bets. Not really the greatest fayre on offer this afternoon so if you've anything better to do I'd suggest you get on with it. However if, like me, you have an enforced spectating and gambling period then these are my bets.

Just a few speculative efforts today, a small loss yesterday after only a spattering of short price winners. Hopefully we can hit a bigger one today. I have 8 horses and 1 tennis bet. Best of Luck.

Morning all, a small profit to start the month yesterday, hopefully it may continue. I have 11 horses today and 1 tennis. I'm not betting football this weekend, I've not even looked who's playing, there's only one game that matters anyway!!!
