Thursday 12th July -

Morning all, it's the July festival at HQ this weekend, despite it being my most local track, me and Newmarket don't really have a great relationship when it comes to making money, on my last visit I left with nothing but a soggy racecard. I've a few selections that I hope will go well, and hopefully we can turn round a losing day yesterday on the tips. Now, Newbie Corner has been going a while now and we've had some decent results, it was set up to suggest horses to follow, ones that should get a win within a few runs, but if they win first time up it's a bonus, well, yesterday a couple did win first time up and I suggested it was worth a pound, I do truly hope some of you listened as 100/1 and 33/1 returns will look very pretty in your accounts this morning. Right enough praise for myself, let's get on with some tipping. I'll add some reasons in Newbie corner.

CYCLING

Today is a proper stage of Le Tour, Climb after climb after climb, finishing at the top of a climb. Bradleys legs will be tested on every climb here and he will need his team on top form, he has a terrific wingman in Chris Froome though. With so many climbs then expect the KOTM contenders to get out early and press the issue, picking up points. As for winning the stage, who knows, if the breakaway stays away then Voeckler will be there with a chance again, and maybe someone like Scarponi, if the leaders get there, which given the severity of the climbs, I'd expect them to, this should be the stage that really shows us who is in contention to win this, and there could be a shock, remember Carlos Sastre on the Alpe D'Huez? It is up to Nibali and Evans to really have a crack and on value, aggressiveness and climbing ability I'd side with Nibali. So that's my only bet today, Vinny Nibali to win, Bet365 and Boylesports appear very generous with their 10/1 n offer.

Good Luck and Happy Punting
