Good morning all, a blank yesterday but could have been so much more with 20/1, 14/1 and 14/1 places!!! Talk about hitting the crossbar. I've only 7 today and a bit of time so I'll do a little write up on each. Plus I'm introducing #teamstreetcry. Street Cry is my favourite sire, and I generally back each runner to varying success, I've found the female progeny to be more profitable but haven't really kept a log.
NAP - KING OF DUDES 535 NAVAN (12/1 365,Coral)
Formally with Sir Henry Cecil, now resides with Thomas Carmody and represents the Andrew Tinkler operation. Has some solid form in the book, including a soft ground win at Leopardstown in July. Todays pilot has twice had him placed in Apprentice events and takes 10lb of the allotted weight which itself has an age allowance. Where he should be carrying topweight effectively he slots in somewhere in the middle of the pack and if the first time blinkers have the desired effect this is a prime opportunity for this runner.
NB - ODDYSEY 400 NOTTINGHAM (3/1 Paddy Power, BetFred)
Micheal Dods' filly has been very consistent, last 6 figures read 122133, having a third crack at current mark whilst being reunited with the jockey responsible for the two 1's, who just so happens to be able to relinquish 3lb. This horse has seen significant support overnight and most form suggests that the step up in trip will suit nicely.
SEPTEMBER LILY 305 NAVAN (4/1 365)
This filly has had a lot of chances but generally given a decent account, placing 6 times, dealt with a few of todays opponents last time out and has blinkers fitted for the first time today. Maybe this is final chance saloon for her in my book but she'll sure give a run for our money.
FORRAY 300 NOTTINGHAM (14/1 Widely available)
Has been running in better races than this and will handle the cut in the ground. 4 starts ago was not beaten far in secod by a horse called Body and Soul who has really gone into orbit since. A few less exposed types to deal with here but this looks a realistic engagement and the price looks too big, it may get more realistic if the favourite doesn't line up.
GANGSTERBANKSTERS 600 KEMPTON (14/1 365,Sky)
Like September Lily this one is a bit of a #cliffhorse for me. I think his opening handicap mark was very harsh, even though the form of his maidens has held up, probably more reliable to look at the first one only. Looks on a nicer mark now and with one hell of a jockey booked. Martin Harley often does well when teaming up with Elaine Burke and I'm hoping for a big run this evening.
LETSTALKABOUTMONEY 800 KEMPTON (20/1 Coral, Stan James)
Well face it that's what it's all about anyway, right? Strong form in lower grades, was out of depth last time out but this looks more suitable on handicap debut. Can be found as short as 10/1 elsewhere so certainly value in the price if nothing else.
DAZZLING VALENTINE 500 NOTTINGHAM (14/1 Pretty much everywhere!)
This filly always travels well, and she finally got her reward after a racewinning jump onto the rail from Natasha Eaton, Natasha continues her affiliation with this one in this apprentice event. Chances are she won't give us a huge amount in the finish but she should come there with something in the tank. Worth a play at the price.
That's my bets. Onto the Street Crys
BERKELEY STREET 330 NOTTINGHAM
A newcomer for the Queen and Sir Micheal Stoute, 3 parts brother to a useful group filly trained in France, may well prove to be one for the notebook. Watch the market.
STREET POWER 730 KEMPTON
Jeremy Gask's 7yo gelding has 6 of his 9 career wins here at Kempton, 4 over todays trip. Partnered tonight by one of the elite AW jockeys George Baker I think he has a real chance at a decent price.
In the football I'm having a speculative play on Stockport to beat Wrexham.
