Saturday 18th June - Final Day of Royal Ascot :-(

After the Hype, Hypnotism, Horses and Hats the Royal meeting comes to a close today for another year. My success rate has been as follows Tues 3 winners, Weds 2 winners, Thurs 1 winner, Fri 2 winners - and as I'm a firm believer in symmetry we will be looking for 3 winners today! I got very wet at Newmarket last night but Jools Holland was suberb, the ground didn't cut as quickly as I'd have liked so no success there although did pick Kingscroft from the paddock so that eased the pain somewhat. If all my selections are correct today then get your bets on Ryan Moore top jockey, I give him his 2 wins today with none for Hughsie. Back to reality tomorrow so let's get on with the selections for today shall we?

ROYAL ASCOT
230 MAYBE looked a monster when landing her maiden at Naas without ever looking threatened, she attains 5lb from the boys here but I don't think she needs it, trickily drawn but I think she'll run her own race, Irish horses like a bit of mud and she should find that in abundance with the ground already soft and scattered showers predicted from about 11am. Some that make each way appeal with regards to form into the Coventry are Bounty Seeker, Singalat and Esentepe.

305 AWAIT THE DAWN should be taken to land Ryan Moore a quick double, he has destroyed Group 3 fields on his last 2 starts and looks ready to step up to the plate here, will have no worries with the ground as won on soft on his debut, if anything it could turn out to be a preference. Laaheb makes the most each way appeal for me although the jockey is a turn off. Passion for gold landed a decent event on heavy going in france and showed this trip was no problem last time out when landing a listed event at Goodwood.

345 I have Delegator and Bated Breath antepost although there is still doubts whether the former will run. Hitchens looks a massive price having been knocking on the door for a while before landing a group 3 event at the Curragh on the Irish guineas meeting. I'm siding with BEWITCHED. Has won on Soft ground, but the real eyecatcher is his last time out, eased down 1 and half length victory over Zoffany, the horse that almost became a bookie best friend when chasing down Frankel to a head. That landed him a hattrick of group 3 contests and now steps up to try to land a group 1. Johnny Murtagh won this last year and takes the ride on the selection today.

425 I've taken the same tactics that landed me Manassas yesterday. I've got one here that is comfortably drawn, should handle the conditions and will run on from behind, which seems to be the modus operandi for winning this week. MACS POWER is by no means a tentative selection, big price.

500 I want to like Sharaayeen in this but the jockey puts me off, horse should be could enough to take a place though. One I really like at a good price however, is HEDDWYN, put in a good performance on heavy 2 starts ago when keeping on in behind Green Destiny over a mile, stepped up to a mile quarter last time out and finished well suggesting further would be fine, the step in trip and soft ground may well find him out, but i think he could be a decent mile halfer and take my chance today.

535 A tricky Queen Alexandra, OVERTURN won't have it as comfortable as in the Chester Cup, and similar tactics will probably be used, this time he will be taken on for the lead by Degas Art or Not Til Monday. We'll be able to tell pretty early on if he's going to win or not, and in running players could side with a hold up sort such as Swingkeel.
