Sunday 19th June - Back to Reality

Well after a fantastic week it's back to reality today. I think we can claim a relative success at Royal Ascot, the blog selections are in profit £9.83 to a £ level stake for the month and I don't think that is much different from the start of the Royal Meeting. We got Power, Frankel and Canford Cliffs on Tuesday, I'm claiming Lolly for Dolly and Rewilding on Wednesday, Just Brown Panther on Thursday, Friday we landed Nathaniel and Manassas, and then Maybe, Await the Dawn and a perfect call on Swingkeel yesterday. Happy with that. Tomorrow we'll have a look at Wimbledon just for something a bit different. But today I'm just going for 3 selections.

HEXHAM
400 MASKA PONY gets the vote, mildly up in class after a game effort in second behind the classy Speedy Directa last time out. Graham Lee takes the saddle so will surely get a tune out of the horse. Shaped last time that a little further may well suit so has been stepped up, A lot of decent horses in this so wouldn't put you off any but my choice is made.

PONTEFRACT
340 Initially I sided with the favourite Dhaamer but then looked further in and found the value in Tom Dascombe's ZENNOR. The filly from the in form yard ran on assertively to land a contest over 1m1 two starts ago and suggests on that evidence that 1m2 will be a good trip to try. Last time out was a solid second under the owner, that was just 2 days ago and no weight penalty from that leaves her taking weight off all her rivals. Has every chance today going very fresh and represents value against the favourite.

410 In this I fancy RED CADEAUX to take the spoils. A proven stayer, he will handle the stiff finish at Pontefract, took a similar event at Hamilton last month and looks to be ready to go on a little run of big efforts, Ed Dunlop is a pretty consistent trainer and given the weightings would probably not have put this one here if without a chance.

I'm going to stick these in a Round Robin with an Each Way treble on top just to be a bit different.
Good Luck if you are following me or with your own selections. And Happy Punting.
