Sunday 22nd July -

A frustrating day yesterday, on paper a poor one, but with some solid priced placed efforts just those extra yards could have made the difference. Never mind. We'll try again, because that's just what we do!!!

Off to Finland today, 3 from top MARIEHAMN entertain 3rd bottom JJK, who incidently have lost their last 3 road trips. Odds of 3/4!!! are available in a few places, and on the form that looks a decent price to me.

TENNIS

It's finals day, in Gstaad JANKO TIPSAREVIC takes on THOMASZ BELLUCCI. Psychologically Tipsarevic has a huge edge having beaten Thomasz in the Semi Final in Stuttgart just last week, although it was a close affair, going to a 10th game in the third set, for me Tipsarevic edges this, on my ratings it is 69-67, that's how close it is, Janko the edge but at the prices trading might be the better option.
In Hamburg, TOMMY HAAS meets JUAN MONACO, This is Monaco's second final in 2 weeks, and if we said he put in a below par effort last week, we'd be being kind to him. Monaco has the better head to head, but they've never met on clay, overall I have Haas shading it, he is having somewhat of a twilight year and with the home crowd, and Monaco's final hurdle demise playing on his mind. I'm going for the veteran German in 3.
Atlanta, tonight, and ANDY RODDICK takes on GILLES MULLER. Both came through tought tests in the semis, and deservedly line up here. Roddick leads the head to head, and like Haas, with home support should be able to add to that.
Now for the women, and in Bastad, MATHILDE JOHANSSON plays POLONA HERCOG, had you asked me to name the finalists here, even yesterday, it wouldn't have been these 2! These 2 are relatively closely matched in most places, but Hercog is the better player on the surface, and holds the advantage of having won their only meeting. But tread carefully as these 2 have been the underdog most rounds leading to the final.
In Carlsbad, MARION BARTOLI plays DOMINIKA CIBULKOVA, they are very even head to head, and given that Bartoli has only just despatched Chan in the semi (at time of press) the odds compilers haven't gotten involved as yet. Just going on my figures from the semis, I'd have to go Bartoli.

Good Luck and Happy Punting
