Tuesday 29th November - After another poor Monday comes a mediocre Tuesday!

Hope you enjoy the new setup, I felt we suffered with luck on a couple of occasions yesterday mostly with the NAP he was knocked about on the last bend and lost any chance, maybe the jockeys fault as he should have kicked before the bend and not let one up his inside, but heyho it's a new day, we musn't dwell.

Monday 28th November - Safely back from #fawltytowers

I have never been so glad to see the welcome to Suffolk sign on the A14, both of them! After my well documented trauma of the weekend, there shall be a blog up shortly fully recounting the hours I spent at the hospitality of Basil Fawlty. Onto the real reason why I write, my horses for the day. All horses are my opinion of which will win the race, I am going to CAP my top 10, based on the information available to me. I am also going to NAP, Nb in each meeting. I think this will be the system for the blog for the foreseeable future. I know a lot of people like a * system so I'm going to try that for a few days and see if it works.

The ultimate NAP is CAPE ROYAL
Ok, so he's never won on the All Weather, but has done a lot of running in better races than this, he is generally consisitent in the bottom grade, and also pretty tough when making the running, making all to win 2 starts ago. His AW mark is much lower than that on the turf and he is drawn very well to jump out in front. He holds good terms with those reopposing and I'm hoping for a big run and a big winner!

Good Luck and Happy Punting.

Friday 25th November - Sunday 27th November

There will be no blog this weekend due to time constraints/commitments.
See you all Monday

Thursday 24th November - Uttoxeter versus Mickey Mouse

Theres a cracking card at Uttoxeter today, on At The Races. However, being the father of 2 young children added to the fact it is my day off, I have a feeling Mickey Mouse may well come up trumps on this occasion. I shall be placing 50p on the 210 Newbury so i can watch Grand Crus take on Sonofvic(who is incidently in my 10tofollow and my choice for the RSA). I've crunched a few extra numbers today, not changing the way my horses are selected, but afterwards to rank them as such. So what I'm going to do is give you my Lucky .. we'll do a 31 shall we? why not? with reasons as to why I picked in the first place, remember though 1 or 2 may be quite short given that I've have crunched series' of numbers and come up with a big one. Then I'll list my selections as per and give you my NAP and Nb at each meeting. Sounds like fun doesn't it?

200 UTT - MANGONEL 8/11
A short price, but justified, churned out quickly for a quick hattrick. Had nothing to beat with the removal of Dots Delight 2 starts ago. Then comfortably defied a penalty to win with ease last time. Officially rated as 13lb well in and there is absolutely nothing in this race that I would back confidently if the selection wasn't involved.

320 NEWB - EMPIRE LEVANT 13/8
The trainer has stated that he is very happy with this chaps handicap mark, plus Harry Derham climbs on and takes off a further 8lb. Harry is worth every ounce of that claim and the jolly should be well together after a break from a stable that rarely make too many mistakes.

100 NEWB - THE COCKNEY MACKEM 2/1
This looks a very hot race despite only 4 runners, all 4 look well in with a chance. The selection and Lidar have a bit of form over fences and the other two are coming in fresh. I thought the selection was very hard done by last time out after a, shall we say, enterprising ride from Ruby Walsh on Edgardo Sol, who has since gone on to win again. There is no Edgardo Sol and no Ruby Walsh here, and the Twiston-Davies team have been going well so I'll take the Mackem to get off the mark today.

540 KEMP - ART THIEF 5/1
Kept on well last time when Royal Alcor gave the field the slip at Wolves on Saturday night. Churned out quickly to avoid the 3lb rise in a bid to land the glory. Make have to make most from an inside draw but put in a blod effort when unfancied here in August from the number 2 box so has every chance.

105 THUR - BALLINAHOW LADY 4/1
The Favourite (Apt Approach) looks very well in but hasn't finished a race since Nov last year and hasn't won since 2009 so is surely there to be struck at? The selection ran well over what seemed a short trip last time out when 3rd, the 4th that day ran a close second yesterday. He likes the softer grounds and if the favourite trips up again then this one looks most likely to take advantage.

Wednesday 23rd November - Vote For Me

Remember Twitter Tipster of the Year is ongoing until nearly Christmas, so keep voting.
It was very tough picking out anything to suggest betting on significantly today, let alone my Lucky 15

My best bet is Sir Mark Prescott's cracking filly CLINICAL, this grey filly has been mopping up AW listed events of late and this looks to be another for the taking. She gets weight off the boys and is very game when she sticks her head in front. 635 K 11/4
Next best is another game ladyhorse, TECKTAL, this mare won two starts ago very well and followed up with a very big run last time, a couple of key rivals declared in this ran yesterday so I shan't put up any sort of price as it will be subject to a stinking rule 4. 115 F
The other 2 fall at Cork, the first is KEMPES in the 125, This one absolutely delights when the ground is bottomless, which he will get today, when it says heavy at Cork, think mud!
The filler for the Lucky is KICK FOR TOUCH, 300. Not only does this one have the very best form in a Pro/am race, it is piloted by the queen of bumpers. Miss Nina Carberry.

Monday 21st November - Cracking weekend

Yesterday topped off a cracking weekend, 9 winners at a Strike Rate of 47% across the cards. Hopefully we can carry this form into today, although I'll be honest, I've looked as in depth at the cards as I could be bothered. Really not a lot of true form to look at so the number crunching is difficult and I've taken a few chances. We were unlucky with the Lucky 15 yesterday with 3/4 winners. As for the Ew bets, when will I learn?
I'm going to try a little treble today, maybe with a trixie saver, just in case.
130 K - VIOLIN DAVIS 11/10 widely
Well in with second favourite Whoops a daisy, step up in trip shouldn't be a problem given the manner of his win last time at Cheltenham, for me the 13lb rise is offset by his 13l victory, and he was eased down on that occasion. Should take this nicely before the handicapper truly assesses how good he is.

300 FL - MY BROTHER SILVEST 2/1 365,PP
A progressive sort who David Pipe has shrewdly raised in grade each time the handicapper has smashed on some more pounds. Won a very hot race last time by 4 lengths, despite errors. To be fair discounting errors he would have won by around 20 lengths. On a four timer and I honestly cannot see anything I'd trust enough to take him on with.

320 L - MISSION COMPLETE 11/8 VC
With Maurice Linehan taking 8lb this one is effectively 3lb well in. He is a jockey I've only seen a couple of times, and for me he looks like he is trying to make a name for himself, however, this is a horse that should suit his hold up, come late style.

Sunday 20 November 2011

Sunday 20th November - My First Sunday this month!

This is the first time i've blogged on a Sunday this month, and to be fair there isn't a lot to inspire me! With the abandonment of Cork last night there has been room for me to be a real enthusiast and watch a few videos. It's been fun. I'm going to look at the Morgiana, but for me it's a no contest. I've picked out a Lucky 15 which my Morgiana winner will be included in, and then 3 interesting Ew bets. + I fancy a coouple of value forecasts so I shall just pop the value ones in brackets where applicable, if I remember. :-)
A cracking day yesterday with 9 winners and 8 places from 41 runners at an LSP of 11.4, Lingfield the standout LSP of 7pts, and Huntingdon the best SR of 40%. winners yesterday came in at SP of 8/13, 9/10, 11/8, 5/2, 5/2, 5/2, 9/2, 13/2 and 14/1. The 14/1 I put up on the Horse Racing Tavern!
Lets start with the Morgiana.
Akatara, you can get 125/1 for him, don't bother, he is there to pick up some decent prize money for getting round, that should ease the training fees a little.
Oscars Well - Was unlucky in the Neptune last year but I think the first 2 were all over him by that point anyway, he does look like he contains an error when wound up and there is every chance that this could get very quick towards the end, I wouldn't be having him at the price. Plus 16f has looked a little sharp for him in the past although the bottomless ground should ease the pace for him.
Pittoni - The youngest of the trio and therefore privy to the most improvement, won very cosily last time out at Naas, but these 2 rivals are in a different boat to those. For me he wants a truly run race as some of his jumping looked a little deliberate early on at Naas but vastly improved when going on. He will be one to look out for in larger fields at the festivals for sure but this is a bit too hot for him today. His best chance is if the outsider fancies a day in the sun and sets the race quick.
THOUSAND STARS - Arguably should have won more big pots but just keeps on meeting one or two superstars. On Official Ratings he takes over 10lb off his 2 rivals and yet the bookmakers have him at the same price. William Hill still hold out on their 2/1 and that needs to be gobbled up. He should be and if, i've read it right, will go off odds on, with Hurricane Fly out of the way Ruby wrestles the ride from him sister, it's a penalty kick, surely?

Obviously TS is in my L15,
240 P -  DEDIGOUT
2nd on bumper debut, and interesting switched straight to hurdles when the 1 and 3 have stayed, and won, NHF. Tony Martin is a shrewd cookie at placing his horses, and this looks takeable. What is interesting for me is that the tissue prices up the Mullins horse as favourite but Patrick takes the ride rather than Ruby. I think the value is with Dedigout partnered by the brilliany Davy Russell. 9/2 tissue but 1.7 betfair so if you see odds against perhaps you should take it.

230 E - RENARD
Venetias charge gets a further 8lb added to his back, but lto he travelled very well and had some in hand when going away from a very useful field. Definately has more of these kind of races in him. 9/4 widely available

330 E - RIMINI
When he wants to, he can jump. And a very good run last time suggests that he is in good nick. A lot of the time with these conditional events you have to look for the jockey, and with Conor O'Farrell landing a biggun yesterday you will see a price on this horse piloted by the very useful and in good form Tom Cannon. 4/1 with Paddy Power.

Each Ways
245 T - EARCOMESTHEDREAM 14/1 PP and WH
Switched back to Hurdles and down to a mark between those which he placed off twice in November last year. Surely nicking a place form 14sp represents more value than an Even money Fav to win(who incidently doesn't make the top 4 in the ATR predictor, interesting)

330 E - AFRICAN EAGLE 10.5 BF I'd estimate around 8/1 when priced up
Emma Lavelle has her horses in terrific form and rarely sends one out unready. This is her only horse en route to Exeter today and that speaks volumes to me. A large field for a novice race but I think on stable form if this one is any good he can make the 3.

310 P - TOTAL REALITY 16/1 LADS and BOYLES
One a maiden hurdle on yielding ground at the back end of last year, beating one rated 107 without breaking sweat. Conditions possibly a bit heavier than that today, but had to tackle bottomless ground on reappearance last time out. This is a rise in grade for him but off a resonable 116 he carries 10-2, which when you go up in class is the equivalent of carrying a feather round in your mouth. If there were 16 runners I'd be hammering down for the 4 here but only 15 so just the 3 places, but he is more than capable if coming on for the run last time.

Saturday 19th November - Bring it on

A cracking day of racing today, the blog stood up with the best of them yesterday. An across the card strike rate  of 31% and an LSP of 18.81points. We got 4/6 winners at Haydock, 3/6 at Ascot, and an impressive 3/7 at Dundalk with porfits of 8.6, 6.95 and 13.25 respectively. Yet again Kempton was weak and I am still desperately trying to crack the code there. In total there was 11 winners and 1 or 2 standout prices, in time order they came in at 1/5, 11/2, 7/4, 8/15, 4/7, 8/1, 4/1, 5/1, 15/2, 7/1, 11/4 but some of them could have been available at much bigger early, some were also shorter. Right onto today and there are some standout races. I'm not diving in too hard as very competitive but I'm going to stick the CAP selections into a Lucky 15 today.

Thursday 17th November - Limited Resource

Today sees the return of my number 2 SR track - Wincanton, however ATR.com appears to be experiecing some issues so my available resources have been diminished this morning. Perhaps for purpose we could say that you could take about 30% off my confidence, going on the resources used today compared to other days.
However there are 4 that stand out for me today. At Thurles AUPCHARLIE and IPSOS DU BERLAIS, the former is one i have followed with interest being that my 1 year old son carries a similar moniker, if I was from the North of England then perhaps this would be even more prominent for me, :-) He convincingly landed his opening bumper at Naas, and then was sent to the festival on the back of that. I backed him in the Cheltenham Bumper to be rewarded with a third place @ 33/1. I had him on my TTF shortlist for this year so you can imagine my delight when he switched to Willie Mullins yard for his hurdles campaign. I predict a big year ahead for him. Ipsos is a machine, last time out he destroyed a reasonable looking field on the bridle, despite being hampered most of the way round by a loose horse. Noel Meade has a serious horse here and his bumper form was franked by a strong run on Sunday from the Engineer, who didn't win but was returning from a minor problem that prevented him from racing. ROXANNE BRUERE looked every inch the winner last time out until she just flattened out, the drop in trip should suit her perfectly and is a major player in her race. CALICO ROSE is my TEAMNAP selection today and was available at about 5/1 last night, we've missed that I'm afraid, when I last checked 4 was still available but mostly 7/2 now. Imo she is well treated against rivals, unexposed at this level and should enjoy the extra trip after being caught out by the pace, with a big effort, last time out. Enjoy, the two Irish ones are very short so you may want to banker them with the other 2 permed in trebles, or the 4-fold should pay around 12/1ish. Good Luck

Wednesday 16th November - Try our best

With no Top 3 Tracks on offer, I have tried to pick out some value bets for you all, they will be CAPS. We were flat out at Southwell yesterday unfortuneately but still well in profit there. A stormer at Fakenham, so hoping fans of that track, or anyone who went there for the day was happy.
The Blog NAP today is Triple Dream - 440 Kempton, this one has shaped to be a horse suited to the little circle at Kempton and the customary Kingscote kick on the bend, He has favourable terms against some key rivals and if he has the lead he wants and reacts to the Kingscote kick then he could run away with this at a solid price.

Tuesday 15th November - Batteries charged

My batteries are charged, and low and behold Southwell(AW) pops up again, my current form at the track has been very strong, turning a 25.08pt LSP over the last couple of weeks (3 meetings). The meeting today looks a typically trappy affair and the big prices should be there for the finding. I chose Fibs and Flannel as my Team Nap last night but on reinspection there is one I might prefer. I'm not going to say and I'm not going to bet on it, I'm sticking with my first choice. If I was to be pushed for a NAP at the morning now it would be Ours in the 1450 race. On official ratings it is a 2 horse race, and despite Charlie Cool having the edge in head to heads and on favourable terms, Ours has the superior Track form and, with the betting value to boot, gets the nod for me.

Wednesday 9th Movember - My thoughts

The blog will be completely updated tonight, I promise!
I have 5 bets for you today and I'm going to give a little reason as to why, in each case, then just chuck my selections up as ever.
Southwell 100
BENGALINE - I'm taking on the favorite here, mostly on value grounds as the form is very similar. The favourite doesn't have enough come out of his second run to warrant odds on for me, whereas Bengaline, although the form is unflattering in the most, does have a twinkle on the AW, his second at the end of August has held up with the 3rd(his preferred stablemate) going out and winning next time. His last couple of runs on turf have been in a higher grade and this is surely seen as a step down to land a prize.
No Prices yet but 23/10 on Betfair

Bangor 110
OR D'OUDARIES
This gelding has put in one or two decent efforts in higher class races including when second on reappearance last time out, he faces no penalty for that and I'm taking him to go one better today.
5/1 William Hill

Bangor 210
COOL MISSION
For me this is between the 3 that have been out within the last month, this one, Pyracantha and Far More Serious. The Candlish yard are in form so I have to accept that Pyracantha is a danger, but CM and FMS met last time out and CM outlasted his rival that day. On that basis I'm putting him up with a chance.
8/1 (365 and Boyles)

Kempton 420
DAWN STORY
This one has a huge each way chance, form says 8, reading it says it was a very hot race, producing numerous winners, including Cesarewitch runner Keys (second), others have gone on to win also and this one is a huge price if she needed that run.
20/1 Betfair

Kempton 620
FAMAGUSTA
Another big price on the Kempton AW. A decent placed effort last time out with no penalty, 2nd that day has run second again since. This should be a decent chance to get off the mark, but provided the step up in trip doesn't hurt, should be in the frame.
14/1 365

Thursday 3rd Movember - Sleeves Rolled Up!

My sleeves are up and I'm ready to attack to the bookies head on today, they've had my money and I'm getting it back, (disclaimer, gambling should be treated as entertainment not a lifestyle, and any losses occurred should be deemed as such, and each new day treated as a new day). Lately I have found the racing tricky to determine but today I feel a little more confident about. In a bitsy I'm going to update results, shouldn't take long with only 3 winners, yesterday though we were a little unfortunate with 16/1 and 20/1 seconds, which ultimately would have made profit for yesterday and recouped Tuesday's losses.

Tuesday 1st Movember - I shall give you my sponsor details later today

Right, who enjoyed the Melbourne cup, I did, despite my win selection coming 3rd and my EW selection coming 6th, it was still a very good race and I enjoyed it very much.
