Friday 19-10-12

Morning all. A couple of winners in newbie corner yesterday, but unfortunately only the NAP could oblige on the advised bets. Hoping for better today. A nice meeting at Cheltenham to enjoy, usual Friday night AW fayre from Wolves and Dundalk and Fakenham and Haydock support nicely.

FAKENHAM

1200 OPERATION TRACER (NB)
Stayed on well into second after being hampered on the run in last time out. Travelled nicely for most of the race and looks a nice hurdling type.

130 QUINSMAN
Very progressive type, looks to be on a fair mark and step up in trip shouldn't be a problem.

HAYDOCK

225 BLUE LOTUS
Didn't get home in much hotter race last time out. Back down to winning trip today and reunited with pilot of that victory. Overpriced due to potential hotpot at top of market.

300 BRAVO YOUMZAIN
Race down to 4 now and this one sets the standard for me. Been very consistent and 3/4 runs at 6f he's done his best work late on. Tried at 7f for the first time today, nothing to suggest it'll be a problem.

WOLVERHAMPTON

550 WILTSHIRE LIFE
Back down to same mark as when victorious at Kempton over this trip, struggled up in grade since then. He likes to do it upfront and a very capable jockey for that, especially in this sphere.

650 STARLIGHT ANGEL
She has a tough draw to overcome. She does look very overpriced to me though. Luke gets on with her very well and I think you'll get a run for your money. It's her first go on the polytrack but no real negative on breeding for that.

720 GUNNER WILL
This one is certainly becoming a cliffhorse, I keep backing and he keeps running poor. But he's in my notebook, there has to be some ability in there, right? He had some decent 2yo form but really has been poor this year. Mark has tumbled though to say the least and this is by far the weakest race he has contested.

850 DARNATHEAN
I honestly thought he had won last time out, until the judges saw the photo differently. He's due to go up 2lb for that marginal defeat but comes out here on same mark. Certainly a worthy favourite if in the same frame of mind.

CHELTENHAM

245 DOMTALINE
On a hattrick although somewhat fortunate to win last time, the second that day however has gone on and won twice since, so there'd have been no damage in defeat. Ruby climbs up today and that's a massive positive.

430 BIRZALI
I've been following this one in Ireland and interesting they've bought him over here for this type of race, travelled nicely last time out before failing to see out the trip, this is shorter and he has a chance at a big price.

540 CONSTANT CONTACT
Potentially found weight/grade too much last time, this looks as competitve mind, although with the handicapper taking 4 off and Callum Whillans claiming 3 he's half a stone lighter than last time. He was behind a couple of these last time and has been given a more than fair pull in the weights yet they are both half his price.

DUNDALK

730 CURIA REGIS (NAP)
He's made the frame every time he's been here, and seems to have a chance at the weights with those reopposed. My system makes him my best bet of the day and as it's had 3 in a row i'm going to trust it.

900 SPRING HAWK
Has a fair few placed efforts at this track, she has been going very well over hurdles this summer and looks a decent price.

NEWBIE CORNER

WOLVERHAMPTON
620 ADA LOVELACE
DUNDALK
700 MIZZAVA / PASTICHES

NOTEBOOK
VALLARTA 2yo Colt with Mick Channon.
Had a very good year. Finished 3rd behind 2 highly fancied types 2 starts ago then broke maiden lto in a race which keeps churning out winners. Trainer likes to farm the european group races so keep an eye on the international decs next season.

Good Luck and Happy Punting
