Sunday 12th June - the birthday blog

Well the big 30 has finally arrived, the grey hairs seem to have achieved greater prominence overnight, and a sensational fry-up has solved any mild discomfort from the previous days alcohol-antics. Unfortunately we suffered a small loss of £5 per £1 yesterday which although is not ideal still leaves a £7.70 per pound profit in the Royal Ascot pot. Just 6 bets today will ensure we still have some pot regardless come tomorrow and then we can weigh up what we are going to do then. Well done to Ryan Moore for his masterful five-timer yesterday although he didn't come off as the sharpest tool in the box when asked "have you ever ridden 5 winners on the same card before?" Ryan replied "I'm unsure, maybe not at the same meeting" No, then Ryan!
Donny and Sally provide the action today, I would have looked at Cork but lethargically decided I couldn't be bothered, so heres what I'llbe betting on today.

SALISBURY
200 Warlu Way makes appeal from a good draw and remains well weighted having not got any sort of run last time out. Also I like Spice Fair under Hayley Turner to have a big run and could be the each way play. But my selection has to be for the in-form Sir Micheal Stoute and Ryan Moore partnership on the favourite NIBANI, looks like he will appreciate the step up in trip, as mentioned connections are flying, unfortunately the early bird catches the worm and the 7/2 available this morning has long gone and we are looking to play with around 13/8 if we're quick, I'd implore you to take the price if going in on this because being the favourite in the first race of the day and the jockey riding a 5-timer yesterday this will plunge and I wouldn't be surprised to see it go off even money or odds-on.

230 SOHRAAB(NB) is the selection here, the horse has run huge races in contests much tougher than this including last time out when 4th only half a length behing the impressive Captain Dunne. The booking of Ryan Moore speaks volumes of the trainers faith  in the horse and the 5/2 available at present will look big value come racetime.

340 Border Patrol is the class animal in the race but returns from a year out so will be touch and go whether he picks up immediately, it's between High Standing and ELNAWIN for me and the bookies are undecided also with both horses being favourite across the books. I'm taking the selection at SP as I think it's very close on bare form but this one has been more in tune recently and the Ryan Moore express will force High Standing into favouritism.

415 Yammos is entitled to come on after a big run at Brighton last time out, and Henry Candy's Avon Pearl is given respect having looked a bit green last time but I'm going to jump on a newcomer today. HARBOUR WATCH is the selection for Hannon/Hughes, the pairing have a great record with first time out 2yo and this one looks like he could be ready.

DONCASTER
325 MEDICEAN MAN(NAP) has always performed well in this class of handicap. He has decent form against most of these and looks on a pretty good mark. Dorback, King of Eden and Fitz Flyer also make appeal but I'm jumping on the back of Medicean Man today. Will Buick is in decent form as always and a positive booking.

400 HAIL PROMENADER looks the selection here with excuses in defeat last time out. Won 2 starts ago getting up ahead of Cono Zur who looks the each way play today 1lb better off, but the selection has the pick of the recent form against the rest and will carry my money today.

Have a great day, good luck and happy punting. We'll see what happens today and decide on the quality of tomorrows racing whether it be worth having a bet or saving the pot until Tuesday.
